Advertising Question

Good Morning, I am asking for clarification on the topic of advertising. I have been approached by an independent local newspaper to place a "business card" advertisement on my mobile signing company.

What kind of advertising can I do? what can I not do? I have only heard to "be careful" on advertising.

I'm not sure about your laws, but I don't see why you, as a mobile signing agent, would have advertising restrictions.

My advice is as follows:

1.) Don't mislead the public and make them believe you are an attorney or authorized in anyway to give legal advice (unless of course if you are an attorney);

2.) Don't advertise notary public as 'Notario Publico' for this, in itself, is misleading;

3.) Don't used your state's seal unless if you are allowed to by law;

4.) Don't falsify your credentials or services in anyway.

What types of advertising can you do?

1.) Definitely advertise on the Internet;

2.) Advertise on business cards;

3.) Advertise in flyers;

4.) Advertise anyway you see fit.

Advertising & marketing is the "key" to a successful business.
As I have found out, make sure your profile here on Notary Rotary is completely filled out and updated.
Although some people are signed up on the "free" notary boards only, I have found it very beneficial to sign up on as many as I can..evem if I"ve got to part with my hard-earned money.
Good luck to you!

First section on Professional Conduct tells you clearly what you cannot do.

Just my opinion, but I question whether a local paper would be a profitable venue for your NSA business, although if you are in a metro area, perhaps local lenders/TCs may see your 'business card' ad. If you want to market your Notary Services to the general public, then, by all means, take a look, keeping in mind the excellent advice of other posters.

Cheers!
