Anyone else do this?
Recognize a trigger statement in the middle of a thread and quit reading that thread because you feel everything is OT after that? I realize that some topics get picked up again within the thread but it leaves me wondering what posts of value I have missed because I didn't want to read the fights and bickering that I have read dozens of times before.

Yes, and I think members of this board do. I usually read the first post in a thread to see if it is of interest or I can be of some help depending on who the poster is. An example of first posts in a thread I don't bother with can be found below ......

It depends
I'll read the first sentence of posts by certain individuals to see what he/she intends (help or hindrance), but I won't read any posts in response to them by Charles_CA, MichiganAl, AngelinaAZ, TitleGal, BeccaFL, hcampersFL, sometimes CaliNotary and Charm_AL, because I already know what they'll say, I don't care anymore if what they say is helpful to a notary or not.
My loss, possibly, because they have so much helpful to say otherwise. But it keeps my blood pressure on a more even keel.

You should add my name to that list, Marlene.
Some of us get a gut full of it right off the bat. Some of us keep our "Pollyanna" groove on and believe the best about people until it's evident that our (my) original assessment was incorrect.
I was just a little late in coming to terms with it. My Pollyanna is gone for good where this "imaginery" original poster is concerned. You'll want to skip mine.
But, good for you for ignoring what you don't like. It's not always that easy or honorable in certain situations.

My excuse is gluttony.
There are probably other names to add, Brenda, but I should not have named names to begin with. I was prodding with my own sharp stick.
I was carb'd out from a Big Bagel Breakfast (onion, my favorite), so my defenses were down. I usually dash off my offensive replies and then delete then and post something sober, if anything at all. But as you can see, I've been out of control today.
Oh, Lordy, now I have to do penance with protein-only breakfasts from now on.

Dang. That's why I like you.
I agree. Protein is king these days.
