Back Date docs

SS call to have a signing done today asking to back date it for yesterday's date. I told him NO, said he will check with the Escrow and call me back...sure I said. he never call back and here I'm just hopping no one in the Fremont, CA area is doing back dating for docs.

Have a nice day everyone.

Unfortunately, it is happening. They just kept calling until they would find a crooked notary ....

they can sign any date but your notarization dates must be the day of the signing... were they asking for that?

This happened to me with a CA signing agency and CA Title Co. I had all ready done the signing, and I get a call back from the agency asking me questions about the signing and to be sure my log book was signed, also asked me what documents were signed by the borrower. Come to find out that the Quick Claim Deed needed another signature, and the Title Co wanted the Notary to go back and have the other party sign and back date. I refused. I was sent the new Quick Claim Deed, and scheduled the signing "with the date to be the date of the signing." The Title Company called the SS insisting I back date. The SS said she cannot do that - and that I refused. When I got to the borrowers house he told me that he received a call from the Title Co. and the signing had been cancelled because I had been fired. I called the SS and related the message, and was told they were called at the last minute by Title and they had found someone in AZ to back date. I contacted the AZ Sec of State's office, relayed the story. I filed a claim to cover my tail, so if anything came up I would not be held liable. I gave them the agency name, Title Company, and names of the borrowers.
