Dennis did you vista?
I had to get a new laptop and vista was already installed. I am the queen of not teaching an old dog new tricks (long live DOS 5.0).
Just wondering how you like it, if you took the plunge from your earlier post.
I have found it's a little APPLE like in the graphics and it has a lot of prompts asking if I wanted to install all of my edoc viewers.
So far so good, but I certainly would not go out an buy it for an existing machine.

I find that Vista has an enormous amount of security settings, which I can deal with, but the no-so-nice part about having a Vista operating system is that many, and I mean many of the drivers are not yet available for this system. You'd think if a new operating system was due to come out Jan. 30th, then the companies making hardware would have drivers to install the software by this release date! I have an HP 4315 all in one, fax, copier, printer and scanner. Sure it prints, but there is absolutely no scanning software compatible for this system. Visioneer said it's not sure but hopefully in May they'll have the drivers out for Vista, and HP doesn't say, just that they will email you when they have the news. I checked on the website I like to go to for troubleshooting, www.annoyance.org, and there are some other common problems with installing software on Vista that I hadn't run into (yet). Granted, I like my new PC, but wish I had XP.

Yes...
...but I "hedged my bet" when I did. I purchased an identical hard drive to my original, leaving Windows XP Pro on the 1st hard drive & loading Vista Ultimate on the new one. I run one hard drive at a time, physically opening up the case & switching the power cables when I go from one hard drive to the other. First of all I love how Vista looks & operates. I haven't run into a single hardware driver issue yet, except my Dell Axim PDA. It won't sync under the new Windows Mobile Device Center & I may be forced to go to Windows Mobile instead of my current Pocket PC OS system in order to get it to work with Vista. The only other issue I haven't been able to figure out is why I can't get the VPN connection to work. All in all it's a work in progress, but I'm SO glad I didn't format my original hard drive & load Vista as the sole OS. It's nice to have the comfort & security of reverting back to XP until I can work all the bugs out.
