I am not a member, but why is it so bad? or is it because...

they have produced too many notaries?

Re: I am not a member, but why is it so bad? or is it because...

not so much as they have produced TOO many notaries...but all the notaries they HAVE produced have been fed the "party line" that YOU TOO can make a fortune notarizing loan papers. Earn up to 50 dollars an hours...that's 50,000 and up per year Part time..."

which leads to a saturation of NSA's...a saturation of NSA's who don't know WHAT in the Heck they are doing...and advising these 'newbies' that a $50 signing is GREAT money.

THAT is why it is Sooooooo bad.....(shall I mentioned their STUPID requirement/need/money scheme for background checks for NSA's?

Knead I go on?

Count me too. (Lots track...)

To put a slightly finer point on it, I think it's that they (IN MY OPINION) have used business practices that to many of us appear to be of questionable ethics. Some of us also feel they've shown a pattern of misrepresenting information in order to generate additional revenues. The most recent examples (as Doc Stu referred to above) are the seemingly manufactured "requirement" for notaries to have an (additional) background check and certification (and that they are the best and only supplier of choice) along with their exaggerated claims of what a new person can earn from this business. We won't even get into the incorrect notary information that has been given out by them in the past. (Again, jmho.) This, of course, has all been discussed here ad nauseum, so I'll leave it at that.

Obviously (I hope) the subject s/b "Lost", not "Lots". I can usually spell, but typing is another story... If I don't edit, it ends up a disaster!! ;>Wink

You've been on this board for as long as you have, yet you really don't know the reason why so many of us hate the NNA? Seriously?

My membership expired last month. I'll never go back to the NNA. The only calls I ever got off my listing there were for $50 closings.

They are supposed to be our collective advocates

but even before the GLB malarkey, some of us had trouble getting what we bought from them, including advice.
And you would expect your advocate to assist in getting you the fees that are usual and customary, however, this company IMO has NOT helped the industry because of suggesting low fees, I guess based on their knowledge that they would be churning out more and more inexperienced NSA's. <sigh>
