NNA FLUNKY BADGE is VERY INSULTING!!!!
Okay, I have sat here an read all of the posts recently about the NNA flunkies. That is a major insult and it REALLY needs to be stopped.
I agree that the NNA has over-saturated many parts of the US. I am VERY angry at them for their overbearing marketing techniques. What they did in relation to making the title companies and other hiring entities believe the BCG is required by law and requirements to be certified by them in order to continue business is very replusive at best.
HOWEVER, please do NOT insult someone because they learned how to do business through their organization. I am one of those so-called flunkies myself. I did not come on board as a result of their rediculous advertising campaigns. I was looking for a way to earn money so I did not have to work two full time jobs anymore to support my three children and keep my house. A cousin of mine (and also my aunt) were in this business and told me that this would be a good business to do part time in addition to my full time job.
I didn't know the first thing about being a notary signing agent so I went to the NNA. I studied a few months using their home course. I went out and bought the supplies needed to start business along with lots of "sign here" stickers to put on the documents before I went to the first closings. It was a lot of hard work, and yes, there are a few mistakes in their teaching; however, if it weren't for them I would have never started this business.
Since I started five years ago, I have successfully completed over 1800 signings. I've only missed a couple not-so-serious signatures in those years.
So PLEASE do not insult someone just because they took their course. Everyone has to start somewhere. If anything, just blame the NNA for being greedy.
Okay, I'm off my soapbox. Everyone have a safe rest of the week. (We have another blizzard coming here).

Now don't go looking for a reason to be insulted. If you truly were a NNA flunky, you wouldn't know to be insulted. Just because you learned from them doesn't mean you're a flunky. You took the initiative to learn this business and not expect handouts from the veterans of this board and others. That's what makes you a cut above the "flunkys". IMHO Lighten up! : )

What Brenda said, JoJo.
JoJo, you have been an asset here for many years. You may have been "trained" by the NNA but, you took the initiative to learn your trade and did not depend on the XYZ training alone. If every newbie did what you have done, we would have no need to refer to NNA newbies as we do.
Remember: It took the XYZ how many years (???) to correct the misinformation published in the FL primer.
As always JoJo, you rock. (I still remember Hugh's ramblings of JoLien and liens w/ your old handle. they are fond memories)
Just trying to make a point here… Brenda is right; you are in a different league.

I agree and my rant last night was against the NNA not the
notary as the NNA is doing minimal training to the masses.
It is up to each notary regardless of how they get their comission to ensure they are educated enough to venture forth in this business.
