NSA Certification

Is the NNA requirement to be recertified every two years too frequent?

Should the requirements for NSA certification be more stringent? Should the examination be more difficult? Should there be a minimum number of loan signings required in order to become certified, or a certain level of comparable experience?

Should NSA certification be done at the state level, rather than by a national organization?

For those of you who are not certified, or don't think it's a worthwhile pursuit, would you be more inclined to become certified if there were a different procedure to make it more exclusive (i.e. more difficult, done at the state level, ... etc.)?

I wouldn't want to see a certification done at a state level. (YIKES).
A notary is a notary in my state, and not ALL notaries are signing agents. (Thank goodness!

One thing you must not wish for, is for the government to step in and regulate the signing agent field at any level or to set certification standards.

The best ideas I've heard on this forum center on continuing self-education and on peer regulation, through a peer standards-setting organization. . .which doesn't exist for SAs, but could.
