Sobbing like a baby - this says so much - I just went and brought my mother down from CT to live with us - she has dementia but thankfully still knows us - this went right to my heart..

Re: OT: Thanks for sharing! My husband's grandmother came
to live with us when our children were quite young. We did not know at the time that it would only be for a little while. My kids got to know her really well. She colored with them, sang songs with them, and treated them to DQ. Nine months later she was gone....we will never forget how she changed our lives during those nine months. I am thankful for the time my family had with her, and if I had to do it over again, I would still have her come.
Recently, for Fine Arts, my youngest son and a few of his friends performed a human video(telling a story with all action, no words, that coordinates with the words of the song) to the song used in this video. They received the highest honor, the merit award in their category. There wasn't a dry eye in the house!
Thanks Again for helping me remember her! Tonya

My mother passed in 1995, during my last conversation with her, she made me promise that I would look after my dad (they had divorced 20 yrs prior to that) and/or my step-mother. Little did I know then, that I would bring both my father and my step-mother home to live with me. My step-mother passed shortly after moving in. I was thankful for the few months she was alive.
Daddy, god love him, is still with me. He's going to be 85 in April, and every week he has to have at least 4 of his great-grandchildren around him (he has 32). What a delight!
Dad was always there when I needed him, never asking questions as to how or why, just there to comfort and support me. My dad will be with me until the day he passes. Thank you mom for your last request. And, thank you Sylvia for this site.
