OT - Zircam
Yesterday, I came home with a cold/flu like symptoms. The sneezing started at 7 am. I could tell it was not an allergy. At 1:30 pm I took my first does of Zircam. This morning the feverish feeling is gone as well as is the sneezing. All that's left is being sore and tired.
Is this stuff as good as I think it is?

Brenda, my husband will swear by Zircam. He just tried this about a month ago when he felt a cold coming on and bam, symptoms gone. And then a week later, my turn, but I'm one of those holistic, natural healing nuts that doesn't want to put "toxins" in my body. I weathered through, which took about five to seven days and hubby kept insisting that if I had taken the Zircam, I wouldn't have been so miserable. I hate it when he's right! (which is pretty rare, by the way).

For those who want "natural" cures
Doesn't cure, but does help with the symptoms, is all natural and helps with the tired feeling that comes with a cold or the flu. Ginger tea. Take a ginger root and slice it like a radish (small round circles) and steep in hot water for 3 - 5 minutes. The hotter in heat and ginger that you can tolerate the better and faster it works. This is an old Indian (the subcontinent) remedy. I scoffed when I was told it, but finally in desperation tried it AND IT WORKS.

Another active ingredient to soak with the ginger is fresh bean sprout.

Thanks Andy, I didn't know that one. Must it be fresh or can you use canned?

I had the same thing last month. I also followed it up with Airborne tablets. I was amazed that the cold never really "kicked in" . I think they are both good products and I actually keep them in my car.

I use both too. Also if people around me are sick, I start using the Airborne just to bolster up my system. It really does work...

I've heard that both Zircam and Airborne are terrific! Of course, when I had the initial symptoms of a cold I did NOT get either one for whatever reason. I ended up with the "killer cold", spent $60+ on over the counter cold remedies, just got worse, ended up going to the doctor who said it wasn't "quite" pneumonia yet, gave me 10 days worth of antibiotics, cough syrup with codeine, and an excellent nasal spray. Started feeling some energy within 2 days. Most of last week I was "workable", but today I'm sort of "worn out" and taking it easy. Will watch the ProBowl game this afternoon - has 12 Chargers in it (YEAH CHARGERS! - should have gone to the SuperBowl)

If only I had read this before I went to Walgreens
But at least I know for next time. The children's illness has finally gotten me. I've never been so tired in my life.

It has some very bad side effects. The following article is several years old, but it still makes me leary of the product.

That is interesting, but...
When you have a killer cold you lose your sense of smell and taste anyway.
