SLOW, SLOW PRINTING...

Hi -

I purchased an HP LaserJet 1320 and sometimes (usually with scanned PDF's from title companies), it prints really, really slow. I know the HP LaserJet 1320 is most definitely not the best on the market, but sometimes it's fast, and sometimes it's slow. Does anybody know if it has something to do with the memory size in the printer? If so, can I upgrade it?

Thank you in advance for any feedback you can provide.

Take care and best of luck to you all!

This has been covered before. Do a "Search" for individual messages containing the phrases "PDF" and "slow". Read them all and you will see that this is not unique to your printer and the different things you can do to alleviate some of the problem.

I have this printer also. What has worked in miracle for me with scanned pdf files is the following. Use the PCL5 driver. If it is already loaded (I have a PCL 6 and PCL5e installed), go to control panel and under printers right click on the HP1320 PCL5 printer and under the tab Advanced click on print directly to printer. It is amazing. Please let me know how this works for you.

I have the PCL6, and PCLPS, but not the PCL5. How did you get that driver?

You mean you have PCL6 and PS loaded. (No such animal as PCLPS. PS is PostScript by Xerox.) To install PCL5e, it is best and easiest to do a brand new installation of the same printer, but during the installation process, specify the PCL5e driver. (This is assuming that the PCL5e driver is on the CD that came with the printer.) If you don't have the PCL5e driver, go to the printer manufacturer's website and download the driver AND the instructions for installing the printer with that driver.

Thank You. PCL5e is not on the CD. I will try the HP web site.
