Signing Co Mistakes
I have done a few signing for a Signing company. Once they did not email all the docs. they sent the rest the next day. last week I was sent doc's with miss spelled names and wrong dates and I was told to have the borrowers correct them initial all corrections. I did as asked I printed out the email with the request and took it with me to the borrowers home. Signing was compleate. Today the borrower called about his funding and the closer told him "I" messed up with all the corrections. Chase was not going to except the Doc's. They needed to be re done. Borrower told the closer that I showed him the email(from the signing co that hired me) requesting the changes be made by him. I got a call today telling me that it was not my falt but doc's needed to be re signed and I would be paid extra in doing so. HELP this company is my bread and butter. Any thoughts?

If the company is paying your full fee for the re-sign, there shouldn't be any problem. Only one thing to keep in mind---DO NOT BACKDATE. IT IS ILLEGAL.
Sorry for yelling, but lots of notaries tend to forget!
Good luck!

Not sure why you need help. You followed instructions, had the proof, and you're getting paid. You handled it correctly. Chase sometimes doesn't like corrections, but you followed instructions. And if borrower's name was wrong, it would have ended up being redone either way. You did your job.

Re: Did not white out or back date.
There was about 200 mistakes with miss spelled names and wrong dates. RTC was back dated when we got them. Pre typed in. I thought they were to be left blank and filled in at the time of signing. Are they not?

Not always
At least in ca. I've had quite a few with dates typed in. Usually they think they'll be signed on that day, but for whatever reason weren't. Just line thru, correct and have borrower initial. (some companies ask that the borrower do the correction)

Re: Did not white out or back date.
I have a signing tonight where the dates on the RTC are already completed, they are correct. If they weren't correct, I'd have the borrower correct the dates and initial the corrections.

Only thing I would add to the other good advice you got here is to try not to have all your eggs in one basket. It so easy for some little thing to put you on the outs with a particular company and it is too easy to blame the notary - especially if you are in a fairly saturated area. It's a lot easier to have a strong posture and stick to your guns when you know you don't depend on them for your "bread and butter"... This comes with time - but is more likely to happen if you make it a goal!
