Re: I am getting tons of calls but not taking them, they know

Yes, I believe your comment is true - I just received a call to do a $50.00 signing. I've been a notary for 3 years and I have paid my dues - I declined. I have done $50.00 signings in the past where the clients were a pain in the "you know what". Signings for that amount of money is not worth the effort.

It's happening on this side of the country also. But, as everyone knows, there are a few out there that apparently can make some kind of a profit driving 40 miles in the dark (after they have waited an hour past the appt. time for edocs) and then faxing back 37 copies and splitting the whole thing, making copies of HUD & Mtge. to go in one pack. Then in about 60 days they will get a check for $90. Sounds very tempting to some I suppose.

Funny but sadly accurate. I don't do the cheap ones anymore, I would rather be home in my PJ's.

Re: I am getting tons of calls but not taking them, they kn

Ditto here, Tess, in and around Cumberland County. At least I'm not receiving any calls. I think it's generally slow but do believe people are out there taking the low fees as well. I think it's odd also that some of the offers are dropping in price. That indicates people are indeed taking those low fees. I'd be damned if I'll hump 40 miles, as you said, in the bitter cold and dark of night for $50-90 - and e-docs at that with fax backs.

January was my slowest month in 14 months

I was worried I ran over someone's cat or something and was being black-listed. I even called a couple of regulars and asked if there was a reason my phone wasn't ringing. Nope, just slow.

One company lowered their fees and I declined a signing, but ended up cleaning up after the cheap notary anyway, at more than my normal fee. When are they going to learn?

February is proving to be back to normal and so far I'm exceeding last Feb's numbers. Stick to your fees no matter how slow it gets!

Same as last year, this month is slower the Jan was and its about 1/2 of what a normal month is for us.

Caught up on taxes, stuff around the home and few other things. If things go as normal next week should be busy.

As a newbie, I think the month is doing well. I was fully booked for the month of Jan and is receiving calls daily since it turn February.
One thing is very true with experience from the last 7 months, I accepted jobs for $$$ and jobs for $$, jobs done for $$$ always paid on time or within 2-3 weeks and as for jobs done for $$ problematic, late payments, even over due and still trying to track them down. Base on experience I had stop dealing with people who offers $$ jobs and this decision does not put any type of impact on my business, I think this have a lot to due with a JOB WELL DONE...: D
