Title company name change game

The New Name Game
It seems lately that companies are doing business under multiple names and it is creating a lot of confusion for some. I believe that there are two main reasons for this: (1) AfBAs: title companies are falling over each other trying to establish as many Afffiliated Business Arrangements (AfBAs) and Joint Ventures (JVs) as they can manage; and (2) Fraud: some companies seem to be running up large bills with abstractors, failing to pay them, then re-organizing under a new name to order more title searches.
