Updating Fees

There have been countless discussions on this forum about fees, and not wanting to charge too little. However, everyone is reluctant to quote what they are charging and I fully understand that. I am now, however, wanting to update my fees in my profile but it won't let me go past a certain amount. I can't find anything in previous messages regarding this issue. Anyone have trouble with updating this? I am talking about the normal signing fee..not the smaller mileage, edocs, faxing etc. And I'm not trying to update to an outrageous amount either. Thanks. Smile

That's not what I'm talking about. I can't get the fee schedule in my profile to go higher than a certain dollar amount. It tops out a an amount that is not all that high...and I was asking if anyone (maybe I wasn't clear enough) had an problems with this or knew how to handle this. I am not nor did I ever infer price fixing.

I thought your post was quite clear, not sure why you got that response. Don't know how to help you fix it though.

OK, I am stumped. What profile are you talking about? I don't see a place to put fees in the NR profile, unless I really am that tired .......

Carolyn standard fee max is set for $125 (overnight) if you add another $25 for edocs is $150. Is not that enough? lol Smile

I just find it interesting that NR would cap it...why should they limit it to that dollar amount? I can't imagine it's system constraints. In any case, everyone please don't think I'm increasing my standard fee to some outrageous amount over the max listed of $125. I just find it odd that the amounts stop there. As you can see on my profile, I haven't signed anything yet. I'm still just getting my act together. Thanks for all your input.

I didn't think you were trying to be outrageous. I had forgotten how do set the fees in NR. I am glad you made the post, as I needed to change a couple of things.

I think everyone needs to negotiate for as much money as possible. I applaud you for thinking high instead of low. There are too many newbies willing to work for 50 bucks.

I think you will find that each time you are hired by a ss, tc or lender, it's a negotiation. When dealing with an unfamiliar company, I usually ask what they are paying for the loan. A lot of loan signing classes suggest quoting $125.00 when asked and go from there. Maybe that is where that figure came from. It took me a little while of signing to be able to accurately quote fees, as the amount of work on each loan varies quite a bit from company to company. Be sure you ask what they are expecting you to do for the fee such as edocs, fax backs and such. The company may be only willing to go so high, so it will be up to you whether to take the job or not.

Your post shows you are thinking. Keep it up and you will be successful ......v

Suggestions for your Profile

This is long, and specifically for kikeroo. All the comments are intended to be helpful suggestions, not complaints. Caveat lector.

First, please reconsider your nom de Forum. "Kike" is an antisemetic slur.

Your Profile begins by stating that you're a commissioned Notary. Readers are apt to say "Duh!". Also, "in CA" is not needed. California is already part of your Profile.

The second sentence tells anyone why they should not hire you. It screams "Amateur!", and my immediate reaction is "No, you're not going to begin your new venture with me. You're going to begin your venture with some cheap turkey that won't give you more than a pittance, and may not pay you at all."

Aha! Here we have good stuff! In the banking industry more than 27 years! She must know her stuff. Sounds good!

The wording of your available times is not optimal. You are available evenings between 7 PM and 11 PM. (Of course it is Pacific Time. You're in CA.) The 8 AM through 11 PM Wednesday through Friday is fine.

"Other areas on request." Huh? Do you mean your base fee covers the places explicitly listed and prices will be negotiated for other areas?

Please accept the comments in the spirit intended. Good luck!

Re: Suggestions for your Profile

Thank you Ernest for your comments. I really appreciate your time and interest in my profile and do not take offense at your suggestions. Alas, I feel I will need to think long and hard before changing my name. Never in the last 25 years have I ever associated my nickname Kikeroo (pronounced keekaroo) with that other name. This was a real surprise to me. The other suggestions/comments you are right on. I will update. I agree that by stating I'm inexperienced may give the impression I'm gullible-and probably I am. I just don't want to come across more experienced than I am. I guess too much honesty is not a good thing in this case. Thanks again. Smile
