cell phones: on early

There was a time when most of my calls for closings came in the afternoon and early evening. Usually last minute requests to do a closing. I felt like a bench warmer back then ('Put me in coach ...'). And since most of the companies were out on the west coast, I just assumed that no one would be in the office before 8 a.m. (Mountain time), so I never felt the need to turn my cell phone on before that time.

This morning I got a call at 7:30 a.m. from a company to do a closing. Fortunately I had charged my cell phone and had it on. A few weeks ago I got a call at 7:00 a.m. from a title company in Denver. What surprised me was that there was someone in a Colorado title company working that early.

One thing these experiences have taught me is that it's never too early to have my cell phone charged and turned on, and be ready to close. I think I'll start turning it on at 6 a.m., or even earlier.

Good luck.

Or just never turn it off.

I charge my phone everynight, but I leave it powered on the whole time.
Once I remove it from the charger, I power off the phone, wait five minutes and power it back on.

I also keep my old cell phone in the glove compartment of my car, fully charged. There have been times I am on the phone so much that I kill the battery during the course of the day.
With the spare in the glove box, I can grab the phone, swap out the SIM card and I am back in business.

Re: Or just never turn it off. Mine is only off

during church...and then it is only the sound that's off.

With the SIM card you are set to have an extra phone at all times. I even have an extra SIM card should my phone get lost.

My new one can be put into use at any time.

For $40 you can get a phone off of ebay to act as a back up. For $20 you can get a spare SIM card.

I also keep a battery charged up all the time for the swap out.

Morning Leon:

My cell is always on whether it's charging or I'm in route. When I'm home I just roll it over to my home phone, never miss a call that way. I worked for a Title Company recently that was on CST and their hours were 8 a.m. - 11 p.m.!

Good morning from sunny San Francisco,

my cell phone is always on as well; it was kinda funny when my favorite FL TC called around 5:30 am and said 'I am sorry, are you still sleeping?' - boy, they are lucky they give me a lot of business, otherwise I'd let them have it,lol
only time the phone was off for a bit is when my dear husband accidentally(or so he says!) dropped it in the travel mug full of hot espresso. That tought me to have a spare phone really quickly.

My phone is off only when I'm in a restricted area or without signal.

Re: Always on, always within reach 24/7

I agree, I'm always available and always have my cell phone on.

I've been called while in the shower, on the golf course, on a ski lift, in a bar, at the health club, and God knows where else...can't remember.

I'd have missed a lot of closings if I didn't always have the phone chained to my hip.

Re: Always on, always within reach 24/7

Even on my honeymoon, I took my phone and my calendar. I wanted to make sure I had jobs waiting when I get back (Or at least give good customer service if I had to turn someone down.) If I brush my teeth and miss a call, that is an expensive hygene moment. The only people calling me at odd hours are my work and my kids. I don't want to miss either one.

My cell has not been turned off for years

You want to work in this industry: answer your PHONE! The best thing you can do is buy the Bluetooth ear piece.
This is one of the best business purchases a notary/loan signer can make

If you are at work keep it in your ear (if you won't get fired by doing so) and you can quietly answer your phone and get an assignment in the approx. 1 minute it takes us to get hired.

Women with long hair can cover the earpiece and they are truly the lucky ones. I bet 2 years from now you will see approx 30% of the US population walking around with these things in our ears.

Calif is suppose to require "hands free cell phone access in our cars next year." We'll see what happens and if it is really enforced by the police!!
