AGGGGGGH! Slow printing .pdf docs from LFC
These are from Lenders First Choice, and they are printing one....page....at....a....time. You go on the website and can either download and open from the website or save to your computer and open them on your desktop. I tried both ways, and neither speeds them up. I've also tried going to Advanced in the Print menu and selecting "print as image", and that doesn't speed them up either. It seems like slow-printing edocs are more and more common, and it's driving me up the wall, especially when the docs arrive very close to the appointment time. I'm currently using Adobe 7.08 and plan to upgrade to 8, but don't have time right now. BTW, on my other computer, I did not uninstall the previous Reader and simply installed version 8. Is it better to uninstall the one on your computer and do a clean new install of 8, or doesn't it matter?

I'm using Windows XP & HP1300 LaserJet
Did a search for "slow print" and found a couple of threads on the subject. Will try some of the suggestions in the threads later, but for now I'm trying to get docs done for two closings tonight, one as soon as docs are finished for it, and the other in a town an hour's drive away from the first one, so I need to print docs for both ASAP before I leave for the first one. Do docs from the Lenders First Choice website usually print slow?

Don't know if this will work, Sharon, but try unplugging your printer from the wall, and then, plugging it back in. Someone suggested it to me once, and it worked. Docs started printing faster. Hope it works for you!

Sharon...I've done a couple dozen for them, saved to desktop and printed with no problem.

Change the printer driver to the PCL5e, don't use the PCL6; in addition, in the Print Dialog window, bottom right, click on the Advanced button, be sure that "Print as an image" is selected.
It should print a lot faster. Also, be sure to reduce your resolution for the printer to 300 or 600, this will also increase the speed.
Good Luck.

You don't have ten minutes to update to 8,
but you've got time to watch docs print slowly? Hmmm, I think you should find the time. You might be very pleasantly surprised. I know I am. I printed docs today from a lender who's docs always print notoriously slow (usually took an hour for both sets). 224 pages, I was done in less than 15 minutes. My printer? An HP1300, just like yours.
I always save to desktop. It seems to print faster and I like having a copy on my computer. I keep them for a few days in case someone ever tries to say I missed a doc that was in the package. I can see exactly what was there.
I did an update instead of a clean install and it works great.

Didn't want to update in the middle of printing docs, Al
The docs were already printing. Rather than stop the print, go download and install the update, and then try to print docs again, especially since the borrowers were waiting, I figured I'd just suffer through the slow printing this time. An update is definitely on the "to do" list for tomorrow after I get back from my 9:30 AM appointment. I did try both ways - open and print from the website and saving to desktop and printing from there, and neither was faster than the other.

Did you keep the file?
After you download 8, I'd be curious to know how the same file prints, especially since you have the same printer that I do. My printing speed has been amazing so far. Can you try a few pages and report back after the install?

I will, Al - it would be interesting to compare
I always keep files for a couple of months in case any question comes up from the lender or title company about docs they did or did not send me. I should be back home around 2 PM or so and will uninstall Acrobat on both computers and install the newest Acrobat 8, then try to print the troublesome docs package again and see if that speeds it up. I'll let you know if it makes a difference. Sure hope so as one of the biggest headaches of this business besides late docs is slow printing docs.
