About mobile offices
Those of you in cold climates, are you hauling your printer in and out during the extremes in weather?

I left my computer in the car the other night...
I just plumb forgot it, got down to 50 or so, but it was okay in the morning. Whenever it's gonna be below 40 or so I park my car in the garage, I hate frost on the windshield.
thpllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ( a big raspberry to you and your snow)

(Man I hope Lisa doesn't have her wooden spoon handy when she sees this one.)

We are having an unusually mild winter. Its just that we occaisionally get -30. I don't think I'd want the hassel of trying to keep the car warm enough!

The mysterious case of the frozen Vodka... (OT)
Your cold weather woes send my mind wandering towards frozen things and a funny story told me by my baby brother this past holiday...
It seems my bro enjoys a cocktail now and again and likes to mix them with cold Vodka... kept in the freezer. Now if you've done that, you know that because the Vodka is nearly all alcohol it gets very very cold but does not freeze.
Imagine his surprise when he took his bottle out of the freezer to discover that the contents had indeed frozen solid.
So he asked his 17 year old for an explanation... but alas it seems that his high school science class wasn't thorough enough to help him explain to his dear old dad how Vodka managed to freeze solid in a normal home freezer.
Hehehehe... by not having kids, I've diverted mom's curse, but it has landed square on my brother... "I hope someday you have a kid that's just like you"

Assuming 80 proof vodka. The handbook of Chemistry and Physics shows that a 40% solution of ethyl alcohol and water will freeze at -30 C which is -22 F. Some home deep freezers can get that low. The freezer on most refrigerators won't go much lower than 10 F.

Thanks!
Maybe my nef-pew can work that information into something of a defense... you don't know of any way he can prove that a freezer gets colder as it ages do you? (the Vodka didn't freeze in years past)

At least your nephew was smart enough to refill what he took. Many years ago I came home from vacation to 5" gone from my vodka bottle. Couldn't believe my 17 year old wasn't even gonna TRY to get away with it! Sure didn't turn out like me! :-)

By the way......
In the spirit of this thread, I leave my printer in my car at all times (Cleveland weather) and have never had a problem printing. Usually the car and everything in it is warmed up when I have to use it. I certainly wouldn't turn it on cold.

I once moved a bottle of water (in a Vodke bottle) from the Central Valley of California to the Bay area and THEN again to Nevada before it was discovered! Sine I don't drink vodka, it was my mother who discovered it. Darn step-kids! LOL
