Acknowledgement for 3 months ago
I've read so many stories on these boards, and a lot of the things have not happened to me yet. Thankfully when they do, I am not surprised and can learn from all of your experiences. I was just informed that I "forgot" to stamp a doc and was sent an ack to notarize and send back. Unfortunately, I had deleted the email of the original, b/c it was from 3 months ago and I had already been paid for the job. I requested a copy of the doc to see if I had, indeed, made the mistake and was told they didn't have a copy, but it was an easy thing for me to "correct". After searching my journal, I realized they added an extra name on the ack. So, there's more to this than meets the eye. lol I just let them know these details and will have to wait to see what comes next.

Aren't audit's so much fun? Granted, a lender audit is nicer than the IRS variety, but in a situation like this? I'll side with the Irs.
Get copies of the docs that recorded either through your title company or other resources.

I'm thinking the (former) executives at (formery) OwnIt! Mortgage would trade an IRS audit for what they've been through...

Re: I dunno TitleGal
Perhaps Gary, for audits of "OwnIt".
But, an ordinary notary who's been contacted by an audit employee for the lender?
Not as scary a proposition, and the notary should hold their ground.

Laurie - in PA, even if you did make a mistake (which doesn't appear to be the case in this situation) , you cannot send them a new acknowledgement. You must take the document back to your signers, have them reacknowledge to you that it's their signature and then your ack must reflect the CURRENT date. You cannot use the prior date. You can never send a new ack, even when it's clear the error was ours, the page was mangled in the copier, etc.

Thanks, Sue. I knew I couldn't notarize something with a date from Oct. What they did was forward an attachment of an ack. with 3 names typed on it. (No sigs) The whole thing sounded fishy b/c it was one doc being notarized and I thought to myself, how stupid can I be, forgetting to stamp one page when only one page was being stamped? (Hopefully, I haven't gotten that absentminded!)
