Alabama agents...
please....If a Lawyer's office calls you for a signing tonite with e-docs, do not accept for less than $100. I told them my fee and they said they would call me back....haven't yet. You know they are making a killing on it. Does that mean they found someone to do it for $75.? $50. perhaps?
You're killing me here! Geeze, let's stop with the $5.00 bjs.....pleeease.
Sorry, but, ya know? I do this full time and I don't do this as a cheap corner stand. If you take the fee that they quote, you will be out of business and flipping hamburgers next year!!!

Charm, I feel your pain. I know of at least 3 people in my immediate area who do closings for $50. They are not full time like we are. I have tried to reason with one but no luck. For others reading, no, not price fixing. Just tried to explain to her the minimum rate that others are charging. It was funny because she was the one complaining about the amount of docs she had to print out.

this really sucks because I was the one getting ALL the calls last year. Then all of a sudden there's 3-4 new agents here taking the crap fees and I'm feeling it. You have no idea how much I would like to swear out loud for Pete's sake. It makes me ill.

I dont take the lowball fees anymore and I have gotten better clients, but it doesnt change the fact at hand. It still bothers me. I have stepped up my marketing and am looking for other ways to offer my services. (Stay away from this last sentance you smarties  )

There's an attorney's office here in FL who's contacted me at last 3 times and has never met my fee - always "we'll call you back" - or they leave a message on my machine and when I return the call no one is available. Needless to say they're on my no-no list.

Charm, you're preaching to the choir.
Don't forget there are ton of notaries here in Northern Alabama that aren't members of NotRot. When I Google notaries on the internet I pull up at least 10-15 notaries that perform closings but their names are not listed on this site as members. Nor do I see them on the other notary boards. Perhaps those are the ones that are taking the lower fees. I continue to refer assignments to you and Debbie if the appointments are scheduled during times that don't fit my schedule. But I'm finding more and more of them are closing in the evenings.

it's the fees that is killing me from these companies. I do not understand this new...."oh, you charge that?" WTF???
