Anyone else slowwww.....
It's been extemely slow this week. Everyone that calls is wanting a W9 faxed. Maybe everyone is preparing for tax time! Does anyone charge a cancellation fee if a signing is cancelled less than one hour before closing and no docs have been printed? This has happened to me twice this week and I have turned away other closings for the same allotted time. Just curious. TIA

The only thing moving right now are the ridiculous signing services calling me for $75 email docs. What a joke

Well that takes all, never heard of.....
an offer to pay $35 to have a loan signed. Is this a first or have you gotten other calls quoting $35. Anyone else get offers this low? I have had $50 offers, few and far between. To these people I quote a firm $XXX take it or leave it. I will negotiate but not with insulting initial offers.

Re: Well that takes all, never heard of.....
I live in Va and I had companies call me to offer $48.00 and $75.00 fees for Edocs. I just tell them "are you kidding me" . I had other asked me if I could go 30+ miles and they will pay me $95.00.
I just don't do closings here for less than $125.00 and if is after 7pm no less than $150.00.
The advantage I have is that I speak spanish so I get lots of calls for SPANISH SPEAKINg and they have no choice, but to PAY my FEE.

I too got an email from one of my companies I work for...(company out of LA CA)...and they advised me that they are sending me my 1099, but also want me to fill out a new contractor agreement AND send them a copy of my Driver's License, SSAN AND EIN, "...for identification purposes and to prevent ID Theft..." (their words not mine), evidence of auto insurance coverage (states their attorney requires), they offer a base fee of $50, $25 for edocs, and have a list of faxbacks. I sent them back an email (not a reply to their email in case of phishing)...and asked if they sent this email and why I will not send a Drivers license EXCEPT one which I hide the information on me i.e. drivers license #, exp date, physical description etc. Does this seem unusual to anyone else here?

I've had these requests....
for a copy of my drivers license and insurance, not many. I won't send this because I think it's nonsense for people to ask for these. EIN, Commission, Bond, E & O yes, DL no.

Re: I've had these requests....
They don't need our vehicle insurance or drivers license because we are Independent Contractors. They need name, address and EIN to send a 1099- that's all. I know, I used to send out a slew of them every year.
I love it when they ask me to send them a stamp of my commission stamp - ain't happening.

One 'required' auto ins limits "approved by our legal de-
partment" within their 'contract.' The list went on, and on, and on. Rediculous demands.
Larry's spot on with a standard packet.
And now, there's the illusive third party background check.
Why, one might ask, is LexisNexis any less 'background-checky' than the NSA? And can anyone tell me how, again, exactly, these 'background checks' protect consumers from fraud? The point is compliance with a vague/broad requirement. Perhaps the process is already in place - the States' BGCs.
I mean, are the lenders/title cos requiring for each borrower file, proof that the Notary passed a background check in order to comply? Or, are the SSs assuming the compliance by gaining access to notary BGCs? How many times will the same requestor pay to get my BGC 'passed' status from certain third parties? If each State ran its BGC on every commissioned Notary Public every year, or every two years, wouldn't that "comply?"
Here are third parties making money on both ends, essentially for nothing. I'd rather the money go to each State - if a BGC is indeed 'complying.'
End of rant.

I've had a few ask for that info
I do the same thing with my license. They do Not need my number and they ain't gettin it! I don't send my insurance info either, none of their business. I have not had the "pleasure" of hearing from that company, poor me.

I hide the license number and birth date and expiration date, don't care if they have the description of me. Then write on if for privacy issues. Never anyone question it.

Slowwww + "Required" docs
If it were any slower for me I'd be paying to do signings.
When asked to do a $40 signing recently my immediate response was "No way in Hell." Guess they didn't like it.
There's no way I'm giving people my auto insurance papers. E&O, sure! Enlarged copy of driver's license with most of the number blacked out, DOB blacked out, no problem. Copy of Commission, absolutely. I'll FAX a Magic Marker X'd copy of my embossing seal, but there's no way anybody gets an original impression. I'll fax or send a sheet with my (ink) stamp with my name, Commission expiration date, etc.
