Double acknowledgements

The other day I had a signing and one documents had two acknowledgements; one following the other with nothing in between. They were both exactly the same and both had the borrowers names printed on them. I called the SS and they didn't know either but after they checked they said only complete one. Why do they have two?

You called the signing service?

You should NEVER have to call the signing service with a question about your notarization. Why would their answer have any meaning? They're no more an authority on notary law than you are, and most likely are LESS knowledgable of notary law than you are.

Just follow CA notary law and don't worry about what the lender has or has not included in the package.

Agree with Cali, plus it may be a sneaky way to get an

unknowing notary to complete a loose certificate. Sometimes a package will contain extra certificates in the event of a mistake, so a 'clean' one is then used. I return these blanks with the package.

Some loans have two like that. I would use the first one, the scend could be used if it was a split signing.

Just in case

The one company that I've worked with that does that says they put in another one just in case you mess up the first.

Re: Just in case

The acknowledgements were on the same page with no space between for other information to be added. It was late and I could not contact title so I did the next best thing, I called the SS. I only completed one. Also, they were not loose but attached to the mail docs.

And what would you have done if the SS told you to complete both of them?
