FTC Guidelines

I just read the FTC Safeguard rules that the NNA is referring to and thought this was interesting because it applies to us.

"(4) require service providers, by written contract, to protect customers' personal information;"

This is a given by notary law but that contract thing gave me another thought. Since our confirmations are our contracts, why don't they put a statement right on the confirmation about protecting the borrowers personal information. This would be easy as most of those confirmations are a form anyway.
Because there is a randomness on where they find their signing agents this would be a way of covering the requirements of the Gram Leach requirements for downstream contractors

"This would be easy as most of those confirmations are a form anyway. " But then how would the NNA make any money???

Re: FTC Guidelines/Information Security

I just got an email from The Midwest Notary Association. Their website has put up a lot of information about suggested steps to take to safeguard borrower information. There is also a link to FTC guidelines. Everyone should start the new year by reviewing their practices to ensure that customer information is appropriately safeguarded! Start with link below.
