ID Checking Guide - Boarder State Notaries
I used the orange button and learned that ASN & NNA both sell a guide for id verification for around $20. Google list some others for around $30 - $40. I'm looking for comments from those of you have have purchased or used an ID Checking Guide. Which do you recommend? There is a large Mexican community in Northern Alabama. There is also a lot of "transplants" in this area from other states due to the numerous universities and gvt contracting companies. I want to be better informed about recognizing valid gvt issue id cards (international & domestic). I'm not trying to turn into the ID police. Alabama's regs are not specific about what is acceptable forms of ID. The SOS hasn't been good about responding to inquries from notaries. This would be more for my non-loan business. Thanks.

Re: Border not Boarder
Here's what Michelle said, a very valid and thoughtful post: ***Alabama's regs are not specific about what is acceptable forms of ID. The SOS hasn't been good about responding to inquries from notaries.***
And all you do is to correct her spelling..."border" not "boarder".
Jeepers. Don't bother, PL, unless you can give some guidelines about ID in her area. Anal is the notary, because they have to be in some ways. But they DON'T have to be in asking valid questions like this on a notary forum. Your response was totally unnecessary.

You're right
What good does it do for a person to ask what other states do in their jurisdictions about ID? All that really matters is what the fine people in Montgomery say is okay to use inside its bounds, not what Saramento or Olympia figures to be reasonable. As for anal, I am proud to be in the annals of anal with my compatriot from California.

Michelle, I have the ID checking guide I bought it from
XXX... I found it helpful. My only frustration with it is that it really doesn't have anything on passports. Another caveat is that it needs to be updated every year. (so I'd go the cheaper route) Although I haven't updated mine and I'm not sure I will.
