In house notaries

Has anyone tried to get a TC with in-house notaries to contract out to you? How would you go about it?

Aren't in house notaries the EO and his/her assistant? I do some sub work, but only at the end of the month with a lot of ground rules in my favor.

I was under the impression that job openings for "in house" notaries only happened when the current notary died.

I've been "contracted" out by several local TC's, but usually only when they are really busy. You just have to market to them like you would anyone else. Alot of them will tell you they don't use contract closer, keep trying.

I've been contracted out by a local titlel company as well. I help them mostly at the end of the month.... about 10 during a given week but my other companies that call me regularly. They actually called me and asked me would I like to contract with them......I of course jumped at the chance!

In the cases that I've either contracted an in-house closer (as an escrow officer) or been that in-house closer, its all about building those personal/business relationships. As mentioned above, typically that deal is going be covered by the escrow officer's assistant, or a former employee getting a "sweetheart" deal, unless its the end of the month/quarter/year. Focus on hitting these title companies around these times, show them your interest, and sell yourself.

It is possible to get a foot int door by following the other good examples above. Timing is important. Do it when they are busy, just like your schedule - usually EOM.

Prepare a Letter of Introduction about yourself. Kind of a mini-resume. Short and sweet. Offer your services as a Courtesy Closer when their office staff is short-handed or swamped. Let them know you are on call to assist on short notice and capable of going to meet the signer when they can't get away from work or the jobsite to meet in the TC office.
