JnJ Closing Service BAD REPORT so far
Closing in early November. Payment terms state "end of the following month"
Left 3 messages. NO response. NO check by early next week? THE FAX BARRAGE WILL BEGIN !I will probably tape 2 together and make a nice FAX LOOP!
This is the first closing I have done that requires me to take this action.
ALL my others paid me on time!

A fax loop should not be used lightly!
Take one sheet of paper, tape a second sheet to it (end to end), then tape a third sheet to the end of the second. Dial the target fax machine. When the first sheet starts coming out of your fax machine, tape the end of the third sheet to the beginning of the first sheet. Voila! A fax loop.
Warning! This falls into the category of "dirty trick". Also into the category of "I never expect to work for that company again".

Thanks Ernest... I'm with you it sounds like a dirty trick
even if you never want to work for that company again.

I hope you are kidding. One of the issues I have with "everybody" being an NSA, is the lack of professionalism abounding. Few NSA's have real business experience. All businesses have issues with clients who owe them. Handle that issue the same way "real" businesses handle clients owing them money. Pursue it responsibly and legitamately and maturely. In orther words, handle it like a business owner, or go get a job. It is hard for the rest of us to get respect for what we do when there are people like this in our industry handling the clients like spoiled children.

Unfortunaltly, they are probably not kidding. I am not.....
condoning, not paying NSAs as agreed, but there is a professional , and a juvenile way to deal with the situation. "Fax loops" and similiar methods, are IMO, juvenile. SS/TCs share information on NSAs to avoid just as we share info on them. Using such a childish method to collect a debt, can result in a NSA being added to a NSA "blacklist" by numerous consumers of NSA services.

Not only juvenile, but may be interpreted as harassment with intent. There may be legal ramifications with an intentional harassment ploy.

I think that is very drastic measures for a company that is only two months behind. You might want to hold off for awhile.

Not only is that an unacceptable way to handle this...
but I continue to be amazed at how people overreact to payments that aren't even over 60 days from signing. To a SS or TC, this would be another sign that a signing agent must not do many signings if they're this itchy about a $75 check.

<<Closing in early November. Payment terms state "end of the following month">>
So payment was due on 12/31/06? That means payment is 6 days past due as of today.
I would give them until 01/15/07 before starting the collection process: 1. Friendly reminder letter (faxed or emailed) inquiring about payment status. 2. One week later: Reminder letter 3. 01/31/07: Last reminder letter 4. 02/07/07: Demand letter 5. 02/15/07: Final Demand letter sent via USPS Registered Mail, regular US Mail AND Fax/Email
This is part of my revised business plan for 2007. As mentioned in previous posts by Lisa Prestegard and others, I am also setting credit limits for companies and plan on evaluating my A/R status once a week so I can notice trends as they are occuring and take appropriate action.

6. Take the bas***d to small claims court, get a judgment,
and file a lien on his home. 7. Have the satisfaction of forcing payment of the lien when he refinances or sells the property.
