LexisNexis
This is who the NNA is using for BGC. Under the FCRA you are entitled to the info in their files at no charge. The link http://www.lexisnexis.com/terms/privacy/data/obtain.asp

Jim... thank you!
Forgive me for not emailing in response to your recent note. Things here have been crazy, to say the least. I truly appreciate you taking the time to post this link. I have already submitted my querey to LexisNexis per your kind email. I eagerly await their response. I strongly urge all NotRot members to do the same! Thanks again, Jim, for having our backs.
Lisa

Re: Jim... thank you!
Just so we're clear - this is what you'll be getting:
"These person report products are a compilation of LexisNexis and Accurint public record data, non-public and publicly available information using innovative technology to link records about an individual together. A person report may include some of the following types of information: non-financial credit header information, telephone directory information, real estate titles, mortgages, judgments, liens, professional licenses, bankruptcy filings, etc... "
It's a credit-oriented report, not a background check.

Re: LexisNexis--Possible Problem with this
I poked around quite a bit on this site and did NOT see where they even do a Criminal Background Check as part of the freebie. I'm hoping I missed something, but just want to give a heads up here. Hopefully, I'm wrong. Can anyone shed any light here? Frankly, not including a CBC just doesn't make sense--and not just for our purposes, but for any employer.

It's not a CBC...
See my reply to Lisa above. Most of the stuff needed for a criminal background check is NOT covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act - so they don't have to disclose it in this type of report.

How would that info be a BGC?
Following the link, I see that the Person Report just lists your name, address, phone, DOB, SSN, possible name variations, SSNs summary, reported DOBs, address summary (other addresses you may have lived at), address details, voter registrations, real property, bankruptcy information, liens, potential relatives, business associates, person associates, neighbors, and source information. I didn't see anything that would constitute a criminal background check. It's more of a "Who is..." Also, I was pleased to see the "opt out" feature, which can only be done if you are (a) in law enforcement holding a position which exposes you to threat of death or serious bodily harm, or (b) are a victim of identity theft, or (c) are at risk of physical harm and are not involved in law enforcement. You can provide the specified confirmation that one of those conditions exists and be allowed to opt out of having this information available through LexisNexus.

As far as I know and understand, under the FCRA, they are NOT required to provide you with any information UNLESS you have applied for credit and LexisNexis was used to determine your credit status. The FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) is not invoked for normal background checks used for employment or data security. (Credit reporting is often not done for employement and security checking.)
Apparently, LexisNexis will honor any and all requests, regardless of the source and purpose or not, so the FCRA issue is probably moot. By completing the request and paying for it, they will provide you with what they have on file. As they state:
What types of information are included in the Person Report Products?
A person report includes public record, non-public and publicly available information. View a sample person report. Public records are those records created and maintained by government agencies and are open for public inspection such as real estate title records, liens, death records, and motor vehicle registrations. Non-public information is information about an individual obtained from a source that is privately owned and is not available to the general public.
