Welcome. The first thing you might want to do is read the posts on this website starting with message # 1 (Use the orange "search" button and type in the message number.) If you see a subject starting with OT (off topic) , just skip it.
It should take a few days to get through them all, but most of your questions should be answered. You will find that most people on this forum will be very happy to help you out if you research the subject first using the search button.
Happy signing!

Also, there are 42 NSA's within 20 miles of you
listed on this website, so expect a lot of heavy competition.

I am going to put my neck out here. Normally I remain quiet and just chew my own tongue without saying a word. But this is getting crazy (or maybe it is just me!).
Lydia, this message isn't directed just to you, but all the newbies out there that just do not do their homework ahead of time. It is plain and simple. What are you thinking? Start a business and then figure out how to do it? It should be the other way around. Have you done a business plan? Do you even know what a business plan is? You have your passed your notary exam, so that must be a start.
For my family, 2006 was the year of the doctors. It was non stop. Do you know how much comfort I would have felt, if I found out the doctor(s) was just starting out. He has a knife and the desire to learn. So he will figure things out as he goes along.
Get your education first, then figure out if the business is right for you. Do you even have a clue as to what it will take to be successful doing this? Our's is a family run business, which we are successful at, only because my daughter did her homework and made a business plan. She knows what it takes each and every month. She is successful at it because she was prepared, not inspite of it.
Good luck to you and all the newbies out there. It sure isn't the time to get into the business, but I'm sure you will figure that out before long.

Lori of Oregon, you are our grandprize winner today!
You have won a box of Strawberry Shortcake Band Aids and a pre-owned hula skirt!
I wish I had more to send you but it's the thought that counts, right?
Thank you so much for putting a voice of reality out.
In my email I received a note recently which said, "All those who are asking how to get started should just receive a standard reply that says, 'If you don't know what to do next, then you will not make it. Sorry.' "
That's kind of a tough answer, but so true. If you have no clue as to how to put a business together and an idea of how to study marketing your business, you should not be in this particular line of work. It relies on digging in all by your lonesome and figuring it out.
Thanks for the great response as it seems to always be that if someone who posts here regularly says such a thing, they are criticized for being mean ol' haters. ( IMHO there are dumb questions. The ones that should have been asked before or which have answers lying around for free and for the easy picking are not just dumb, they are lazy.)
At the first of each year, it is the same kind of thing. "What now? Tell me how to make my business work!"
All the answers are right here, yet people don't even take a moment to read a forum's archives and dig out all the gold in these posts!
Thank you again and again for saying something that was so full of truth....and for saying it so nicely, too.

Oh Boy!
Brenda you are just too nice! But thanks so much for agreeing with me. I'm one of the lucky ones. All I do is go out and do the loan signings, while my daughter (who actually owns the business) does all the real work. She has busted her rear to make the business a success and no one handed things over to her. I know that she gets contacted weekly from someone trying to break into loan signings. They have no clue what it takes, just that it is "easy money."
Thanks for all the information that you share on this board. You are a valuable contributor! For now just hold on to the band aids and hula skirt. I'm sure that there is someone more deserving of them. You are right, because it is the thought that counts. You made my day! I hate to go on a rant, but like I said before my tongue is getting sore for biting it all the time. : > : > Have a great day.
