NNA Float in the parade....

Did anyone else see it? It wasn't exactly what I had expected...
In fact IMHO I thought it was a little "corny"..... squirrels and a rabbit????

saw it... It was a bit trippy, but it was cute. I admit that I stared in confusion for a few moments. How it conveys "our" message, well... uh... Didn't the rabbit in the top hat have a NOTARY flag in his hat?

The detail was amazing, congrats to the manufacturers.

He sure did... I'm going out tomorrow and get one of those hats and a big sign so when I knock on a door they'll know who I am before I even have to open my mouth. Maybe he could have had an I.D. badge from N.N.A. with his name on it too. lol

Re: NNA Float in the parade....Description of float...

"National Notary Association (#52)
Float Theme: Signed, Sealed and Delivered

Members of the National Notary Association help make the American dream of home ownership come true by ensuring that all the documents are appropriately "Signed, Sealed and Delivered." The association is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and this float represents pride in half a century of helping make people's dreams come true through leadership, professionalism and trust.

The float depicts a family of squirrels moving into their new home, as a rabbit provides notary service, ensuring that all of the appropriate paperwork is signed, sealed and delivered. The industrious family is not only scurrying to move all their furnishings into the 35-foot-tall tree house, but has already begun gathering acorns to store for the winter. The squirrels feature uva and pampas grass, Ming moss and bunny tails, while the dapper rabbit is made of everlasting, strawflower and pampas grass. The deck is covered with roses, gerbera daisies, snap dragons, tulips, walnuts, chestnuts, acorns and sod"

It was adorable and better than the rabbit cashing his

$100,00. check he made the first year of being a signing agent. (Opps, did I say that?)

On the other side of the float...

We have Elmer Fud made of poppy seeds, lilly leaves and rose petals... notice that Elmer's hat says "Escrow Officer" he's out hunting wabbit because the new NNA notary forgot to stamp half the documents in the package...

Food for thought ....

The average cost of a float is $300,000. Is that a wise use of the NNA's funds?

I was thinking that, but I'm not an NNA'er so I can't complain... I wonder if my beloved NAR had one too... just got the bill from them... $400+ Merry Christmas...

thinking that the NNA is a professional association...a non-profit organization for it's members. I know, I know...it's hard to get your mind around that they are not something similar to other professional organizations such as Assn of Realtors, etc.

Brenda, Very well said

I knew someone could put my feelings into words better than I could. What I really think about it was not postable ......(is that a real word?)

Re: On the other side of the float...

Elmer the Escrow Officer should instead be aiming at his own title company management for establishing policy without checking with the rank and file who actually WORK with notaries everyday...those the NNA churns out and those professionals they use who aren't certified/background checked/rubber stamped with the NNA logo on their hind end...

NNA Float: Video available

Use http://ktla.trb.com/extras/ktla/roseparade2007/video.htm and select Part 8 (you may have to scroll down to see Part 8). The NNA Float comes into view at about 1:25 and lasts until about 2:44.

Are there still photos available? There isn't much detail visible in the video....

Another reason I think living alone is delightful. I never, ever *have* to watch another TG, Christmas or NY's Day parade again. My sister loves those things. I think they are as exciting as watching wood rot. LOL...sorry TitleGal. I know you enjoy your parades.

And it is appreciated, Ernest. OK...so maybe I'm weird, but the (imagined) symbolism was hysterical--rabbits for NSAs (cuz NNA multiplies them like bunnies?) Squirrels for Borrowers... Tho' I'd rather have seen the NNA notary depicted as a sheep.

At least the award was for a suitable category...

If you're ever in Pasedena...

on the 2nd of January, they park the floats in a park and you can walk right up to em and see that they're really covered with real flowers. We did that in 1981... it was worth doing... once.

It's also fun to drive down Colorado Blvd a few hours after the parade has ended. It looks like a tornado just swept down the street.

Re: NNA Float: Video available...Anyone else notice...

that the announcer (was that what's his name from the Newlywed game?) said "The National Rotary Association"?

What's his name then says "there are 4.5 million Notaries nationwide" and the chipper side kick chick says, "That seems like every other person."

Way to spend other people's money NNA. I sure am glad I did not contribute jack to the NNA.

BTW, loved the Notary-Rabbit reference...Too funny!

With this float, the NNA got about 1 1/2 minutes of nationwide television advertising on a highly rated program for approximately $300,000. That's really a hell of a deal. They should easily make it back and then some by lots of new suckers.

I was surprised at the float also.....it was really "Bland". Not too much about the 50th Anniversary
