Re: How about "got poop?"
There's one such sign down the street on the corner from my house. They're offering to collect your doggie doo-doo in your yard for a fee...

Don't laugh...
There's a guy in this area who started a business like that - I think it's called "Poop Patrol". He used to be a landscaper and got tired of dodging the "land mines" while on the job, so he started offering cleanup as a service. He's got enough business now that he had to hire 3 or 4 people, and he's making a decent enough living at it that he doesn't do landscaping anymore. Apparently, there was a crying need for the service in this area - either we've got a lot of dogs, or a lot of lazy people with too much disposable income (no pun intended)...

Re: Don't laugh...
Once when I was a yuppie and lived in Colorado, I used the services of a company named Poop van Scoop. They advertised that they "picked up where your dog left off" and they helped eliminate "gross encounters of the turd kind". I must say that there are very few commercial slogans that I can recall so easily. However, with NNA business opportunities, I guess that they are poised to collect the cash while we collect the........

** NNA is talking about some new opportunities **
Create your own opportunities.
These are not opportunities for you. These are opportunities for the NNA.
Good luck.

at the prospects of alllllll the opportunities that the XXX will come up with...not.
Leon is correct. Seek your own opportunities. What they are trying to do is to get into the inspection/field agent business, if you ask me. Oh boy...another fee to rake off of their membership?
I can see it now...
Phantom Shopper Section - $25 a year Business inspections - $50 a year

Actually, this kind of tickles me for some reason. Finally they are no longer just looking for notaries. Maybe people will wake up? ???? Naw. LOL

There may be a way to figure out how some of these things need notarizations... I can see how the business inspections and foreclosure notice poster (is that a real job??) might warrant a notary, if you spin it right.
Actually, you can spin any job to require a notary if you try hard enough. If they get into that dog poop business, however, I would highly recommend not using a seal...

Here's an idea
If you guys want the information that the NNA is offering, why don't you get it from the NNA instead of asking about it here?

The only real, new opportunity the XYZ is interested in is..
discovering new opportunities to part you from your hard earned money.
Think about it...1 out of every 4 persons in the USA is a Notary. The XYZ was successful in the SA campaign and now needs to find other revenue streams weather it be from BGC, Identity theft or other avenues. This way of thinking and doing business will only continue if "we" continue to support an organization that forget about its members long ago.
I choose not to support the bastardization of my profession.

Bob Eubanks only knows what he reads on cue cards...
Seriously - 25% of the people in America are notaries? Do you really believe that? OK, California seems to have a heck of a lot of notaries and that might skew the numbers, but I would think that less than 25% of the American public even know what a notary does...

Unfortunately Mike, I think you are correct
less than 25% of the American public knows what a notary does. That includes a lot of "trained" notaries!

Re: Let's see according to 2205 US Census Bureau figures..
the population of California is 36,132,147. Per the state handbook there are more than 260,000 commisioned notaries public in the state. Dividing that figure into the census numbers, that comes up to about 1%. I guess the NNA needs new cue cards.

Re: NNA Float: Video available...Anyone else notice...Posted by Becca_FL of FL on 1/2/07 12:42pm Msg #168675 that the announcer (was that what's his name from the Newlywed game?) said "The National Rotary Association"?
What's his name then says "there are 4.5 million Notaries nationwide" and the chipper side kick chick says, "That seems like every other person."
Way to spend other people's money NNA. I sure am glad I did not contribute jack to the NNA.
BTW, loved the Notary-Rabbit reference...Too funny!
NNA Float: Video availablePosted by Ernest__CT of CT on 1/2/07 5:44am Msg #168625 Use http://ktla.trb.com/extras/ktla/roseparade2007/video.htm and select Part 8 (you may have to scroll down to see Part 8). The NNA Float comes into view at about 1:25 and lasts until about 2:44.
Are there still photos available? There isn't much detail visible in the video....

1 out of every 66 people in US is a notary ...
I believe the most recent data collection comes from the U.S. Notary Association, which recently published that 1 of every 66 people in the U.S. is a notary.
Good thing not all of them are signing agents.
(I don't have the lastest newsletter in front of me, so my number may not be exact.)
