New one for me
I get to notarize a signature for a Game Retrieval Form. I got to see the form because the person sent it to me, but dont quite understand what its for. Just curious. The acknowledgement is even compliant. Does anyone know exactly what this is for?

doing a quick google search turned up this website:
http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/projects/travel-mgt/imp-guide.shtml
so it sounds like to me this form is for permission to use some type of off road vehicle in a state/national park to retrieve game(animals) that the people are hunting.

Thanx for the reply Arnold, but the site is for an online game called World Warcraft. Its one of those games where people from all over the world play. I did a little browsing on it, but the only thing I can guess is they need the person to be identified to make sure their acct isnt being stolen. Maybe?? Its a legit request on the form to be notarized. Just curious if this maybe a potential income avenue because I live in a college town and these kids probably play these games alot.

You know when i first read your post i immediately thought video game, but didn't think that made much sense at the time. Yeah i can see having to verify someone's identity for them to get their account back. with 7.5 million accounts, account theft is very rampant in the World of Warcraft and blizzard(company that makes the game) is strict about making sure they know you are indeed the owner of the account. So I guess I can see why they would have a form for it, but I've never heard of them needing this type of form before.

A little additional information scrounged up. So here's what happens:
1) Blizzard watches the World of Warcraft accounts for strange behaviors e.g. multiple IP addresses accessing one account, IP address normally used is located in the US but then IP addresses show up as being from outside the US, etc.
2) Blizzard will suspend the account and send an email to the owner of the account saying they suspect something is up. In that email they tell the owner they need to download their Account-Retrieval-Notary.pdf form and fill it out and send it into them.
3) User completes the form and has it notarized and sends it back in.
4) Blizzard unlocks the account.
It has not made some customers happy, but that's the nature of the beast when Blizzard has to try and fight account theft.
I believe the form is called Account-Tretrieval-Notary.pdf. If you do a search it'll be the first link in google i believe.

my vote is for a hunter or guy-with-the-gear to go back and
pick up his kill at a later time. Some laws require you pack out what you take down. Or maybe it's permission to take out dead game not killed by hunting.

Susan, read my post below Arnolds, it not what he thought it was, although it was a good try.

In California, it's not our business what the form is for (I know we're all very curious though). As long as the document appears complete (no blanks or obviously incomplete), on only needs to verify the identity of the signer, make our journal entry, collect our fee, perform the notarization
Good Luck Lisa. What came to my mind immediately was had to do with hunting.

Re: Terri, I understand this
Marketing is my business though and thats the reason for the questions. Not the legality of the document. I do a lot of research on different documents that would need my services. Knowing the originator of the document or who might utilize the document helps my marketing. I dont get a lot of calls for general public notarizations and just trying to expand.
