OT - Company to do bulk shredding? - Southern CA
Does anyone know of a company in the Southern CA, Los Angeles area that will accept papers for shredding from the public? I have a trash bag full of mail and the sorts that needs to be shredded and I don't want to spend the time sitting in front of my shredder so I'd rather pay someone.

Title Companies must hire professional, bonded companies to shred. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the company who does ours, but when I get back next week, I'll post it.
Why don't you call your favorite escrow officer and ask for a recommendation?
Or better yet, if you have a REALLY good relationship with a title company, I'd be willing to bet that they'd let you drop your stuff in their shred bin, for free. It's worth asking. "Those that ask, receive"

I actually just used "GOODWILL" in San Diego -- they are certified document destruction, they are able to provide paperwork confirming that documents were destroyed per regulations...and they were cheaper than any other company around....and you are helping a GREAT organization....how's that for the "feel good...warm....snuggly" ???

Google "document destruction" and you'll get plenty. At least that's what I did to find the one I've been using at approximately $5/box.

Here UPS stores offer bulk shredding services
they do it by pound & *supposedly* have a locked bin that papers go into whole. A shredding truck comes when the bin is full & shreds all on site. It is said that they record the whole thing on video. I have not used this service, so this is just what I've been told about the service offered.
I don't trust anyone but myself to shred documents. I want to know that it's done properly, & the only way to do that is to do it myself. This is strictly my opinion.

What?? Does no one have a fireplace? I have a shredder but at 8 pages per shred, it takes a while, so I set up a firepit with a screen in my back yard. When I get a bunch to shred, I trot off to burn them. (May not be a great idea during fire season, but you CAN store them for awhile.) Surely CA doesn't have a 'fire season' all year!
