OT OT OT Need feedback

This Wednesday my son is having surgery, he has been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and they are going to operate. He tells me they are going to go in through the throat, remove the herniated disc, replace it with bone and a plate. I am, of course, a nervous wreck. The pain that he has is to the point where he can no longer function and he "appears" to be delighted that there's a way to fix this. If anyone has first hand experience with this please reply through Harry's new personal reply method (TY HARRY). I've read all that I can find but I do better with first hand knowledge. TIA

I have had this disc problem for years. Had 3 discs fused together in lower back in 95 and in 2001 Had the surgery on my neck like you described. Now have no problem using my hands and fingers. Fell a lot better. no problem with pain in hands or fingers. STill some pain in lower back but not nearly as much as before. Can walk farther now than could before.

My son was injured in the war when the Hummer he was in got T-boned. He was thrown out and broke his neck. He had this same surgery last year and is much better today. No long term effects. Best wishes with your son.
