OT - Today my daughter is 16 years old!
Where did the time go? I remember when vividly this adorable 7 year old that loved to wear dresses and lots of pink. Now I have a teen with her hair dyed partially blue, that will only wear jeans, and lives to ride horses and has olympic dreams. They really do grow up way to fast!!

When I think of 16 yr olds, I'm reminded of the old story:
A 21 yr old says to her father, "You know Dad, when I was 16 I thought you were the dumbest person who ever walked this earth. And it is really amazing what you've learned these past 5 yrs!"
May you're daughter have a happy 16th and have her dreams come true for the Olympics!

My son turned 13 a few days ago. Where does the time go? I

wait until they turn 16, you'll be in a constant state of blink. Just hand over the checkbook and that magical cash station card that gives money all day long! Then wait for the dissertation on how they are gonna be rich! Really Mom! I see this working!

I can't image
My daughter turns 10 next month and this year I am taking her to see High School Musical in concert, last year she had a slumber party that was horrible for her. This should be a lot of fun for her. They really do grow up quick. I hope she doesn't want blue hair though when she reaches 16, lol.

Re: I was just thinking about time flying last night!
My two "boys" are 19 and 17. The 17 year old is a senior in highschool and the 19 year old in his 2nd year of college. He will be driving his truck back to school (12 hour drive) for the first time on Monday. He ususally flys or takes the bus/train. Needless to say I am worried sick about him going alone on such a long drive. Sometimes it seems as if they were both just learning to ride their bikes let alone driving. I enjoy the ages they are now (with all the ups and downs) but sometimes I long for the little boy days. Oh and Cassie, if the hair turns blue at 16 don't sweat it. If she is doing well and not wandering too far off the straight and narrow then blue hair is nothing! Enjoy.

advice...pray now and pray often. Blue hair would be the best you could get. When my 24 yr old turned 18 while vacationing, she decided she was in charge of her own body and proceeded to take me on a tour thru Hell. Long story short -- The tattoo that she wanted on her ankle turned into a navel chandelier. She wears a tiny speck of a diamond on her nostril and has Gage tattooed on her ankle. (her ugly vampire bat cow dog that was supposed to be a chihowahowa. The boys like to get buzzed in the summer and streak freaky colors thru their hair. Flame on Oh yeah...I got stories!

Re: Charm- Funny!
When Sean turned 18 and the night before he left for school, he went out and got a tattoo on his chest right over his heart. I couldn't complain though. It is a large sun (symbolizing him) and in the face of the sun is my birth sign - pisces. Sniff, sniff. He plans on getting one on his back that includes the libra sign branching off in two directions (symbolizing his dad and his brother).

You're both right
If blue hair is all I'm worried about when she's 16, I guess I will probably be lucky. Here's a few pics of my pumpkins! In six years, hopefully we'll all still be around and I'll plenty of advice.

Re: I can't image
I agree. My 16 yr old took me on a trip that lasted 3.5 years, a trip I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Blue hair wouldn't have even made me look twice. Luckily though she is on her way back home- so to speak.
Good Luck -- The only advice is that they do grow up and out all you can do is be there and love....

I raised 3 daughters. One still has un natural red highlights in black hair (shes a natural blond) but they are all joyful young adults. Think about it, 3 teenage girls at once and only me as the parent. It was worth every minute!
