OT: any help from my Florida buds?...
We're looking to escape for about a week down to your state in the middle of March, anywhere on a beach. Can you recommend a nice 'family' place/cottage/hotel that won't break us with some attractions? We have to feed two youngins'. If possible, I'd rather stay on the west coast, closer to us
Thanks in advance for any help

The Holliday Inn on Sanibel is unlike any other Holliday Inn you've seen.

Sanibel isn't cheap this time of year and it may be a little further south than you'd like to travel, but it is well worth the trip.
Maybe Beverly will respond with some ideas a little closer to you.
As for me, I'm staying in Cocoa Village this weekend.

My former stomping grounds: Clearwater Beach is also family-friendly. Lots of lower-cost attractions right on the beach. (Capt'n Memo's Pirate Cruise, affordable restaraunts, etc.) Not too far from Busch Gardens if you want to do a theme park w/o Disney prices)

Misty...
your link went to the bulk mail folder and I accidently deleted it. Could you send out again? Greg was home for lunch and closed the page to pull up his music library to upload into the ipod. It looked like a quaint little place, I can so see myself on that balcony. tia

Hardly Fl but one of my favs is Key West
The Key Ambassador is a Best Western and on the ocean. Fantastic snorkling among coral, great food (Conch Chowder is the best) historical places to visit, unusual architecture, and you can do a fun 1 day trip to Fort Jefferson, a Union Civil war fort on an island. Don't miss the Navy museum and both Martello towers (old Spanish forts from the days of the Spanish Main). Did I miention the fantastic food? Great time of year to go there, weather-wise.

I like the keys and Key West too, We were at Buffet's place and he actually showed up that night with an entourage, trying to keep it to a minimal in hours driving. I thought installing the DVD player in the back would alleviate the nonsense, now it's fighting over what to watch. I am getting too old for this! I can't remember vacationing alone with hubby... OK! I got it! I need a babysitter. Anyone? no diapers, baby bottles lol
