Payment issues, no surprise here......what a joke....
A well known company is behind in paying me for a signing, not a biggy, 9 pages, 5-10 minutes in and out, very simple, great folks too boot and a wonderful mountain home......I allow 30 days to pass, I promptly contact the service via e-mails, voice mail with no actual contact with a live person.
This began on Monday, I requested response as I always do within 24 hours, of course no response so I move to plan B.
Plan B, I call and ask to speak with so and so's boss. I get a delightful person, I explain my situation the lack of return e-mails, phone calls....whatever. She proceeds to tell me a check was mailed to you on 1-7-07, I said well I have not received said check. I suggest she place a stop payment on sent check and issue new check.
She agrees, however stop payments are only done on Mondays and then a new check will be issued after that, can't give me an exact date.....again it's not major bucks.....I can live with this.
Even though my personal feeling is a check should be issued ASAP but that's just me.
Today, Thursday the first person I attempted to contact and leave voice messages that went unreturned for four days and only today after 1 were my calls returned.
Now hang on to your seats, this is exactly what was told to me over the phone by the person all notary payment issues are to be addressed to.
Hi this is so and so I have been so busy just haven't had time to get back to you.
Anyway how can I help you. I explain, as if she didn't already know, I only left a very detailed message more then 6 times.
Girlfriend I understand your pain.......I'm a notary too. I have a new system here and I can run through my pages and find it in no time.
I said well I actually called and asked to speak with someone above you yesterday and they stated a check had been mailed on 1-7-07, I didn't receive this check and today is 1-25-07, so plenty time for a check to arrive. Anyway they are going to place a stop payment on the check and issue another.
She said, honey, whoever told you that is lying, yes she said lying about the very company she works for. And she continued to say-they will tell you anything to get rid of you.
She said wait a minute because with this new system I can find out.......The new system is better but it takes a while. I hold the phone as I hear her turning page after page, she ends with I can't find anything.
She then tells me if she were me she would not accept anymore assignments from the company until they pay....... I kid you not she said this.
I hang up of course furious.....I call and speak with the other person I spoke with before......they assure me all is well.
I share with her that her employee is bashing the very company she works for.
In about an hour I get a call from honey/girlfriend. She has a totally different tone now, has located the already mailed check and I can rely on the person I spoke with to take care of this.....
Time will tell and of course a check in the mail...
