Poppy.....Re: Notary Journal
Poppy:
Look at Number 1 on page 9 of the 2006 Notary Public Handbook....Date, time and type of EACH official act....... Does EACH official act mean a group or one? Each is ONE to me. I do not want to interpret the meaning, but to me EACH is one, not a group.
I have always used my notary journal this way and will continue. I'd rather take extra steps to ensure I am following California notary Law than not. Sure it takes a few extra minutes, but if I'm in that much of a rush, I shouldn't be handling such important documents.

Re: Stephanie, I do the same it's worth the extra step
to me, especially when there are other docs to notarize in the package that are not the norm.

Stephanie...It's clear that I must have offended you.
I did not mean to and I'm very sorry that I did. My issue is with the CA law... We could argue the whole interpretation thing and best practices but that was not my concern. Really my concern was that I may have missed something in the CA law/codes that would require us to enter each notarization on a separate line item... I can see from your post that I didn't miss it... You're right it's not rocket science but sometimes we like to turn it into that with all of our various interpretations.... Again, no offense intended... Have a great evening! Poppy

Re: Stephanie...It's clear that I must have offended you.
I have sent pages of the MoJo to the SOS and they said no problem. The one line item covers it all. Do you really think in a loan signing it makes a difference if you notarize at 1:15, 1:17??? All the info is there if you do it correctly. Once, I had to make copies and it wasn't for a loan signing. I just covered with paper and tape and copied what was necessary. Some people take this a little far. Ah, did you sign on this day? I have thumbprints for everything, dates, time, signature, I.D., address, name, docs signed, if I attached loose certificates. I even emboss. Extremely cautious and use the Notary Rotary Journal. One line item. One of the best journals ever invented. JMHO

Honestly, I can't imagine using another journal...
Thanks for the feedback from the SOS... I understand the feedback on both sides and think it's great to go the extra mile if that is what makes you comfortable... I just think we need to be careful when we say something is law...

I'll drink to that Poppy! Other journals that I have used do not have the document descriptions like the MOJO, I can see where you might need to use individual lines for documents if you couldn't identify them on one line. But the MoJo covers most if not all the docs that you will typically encounter in a loan signing, with room to write in anything that is not covered.

order a MoJo - like right away - I'm all for convenience. Thank you.
