I use the HP F380. You dont need a laptop. Just plug it in, scan, and it makes a copy. Its also very lightweight.

Try a digital camera and print on the computer when you get home.

Yes, it was new. It was a but it now deal. No bidding. Alot of people got these for free from HP as a bonus for purchasing something else. So now they are getting rid of them on ebay for the cash.

I also use the HP380. It fits perfectly into a roll around suitcase I had and all the paper, etc fits in it. Be sure you get a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter as some older homes may not have the 3 prong plug.

Will it use legal paper?

I got my F380 from Office Depot for about 60.00 with a discount card I had. It does letter size paper. This works better for me than my camera because of dec pages, etc. I know many say it is not our job, but now several of the good title companies are saying no ID, no pay. The services that we are willing to provide many times separate us from being "just a notary". IMHO

I am working for a company that wants you to have a portable color copier. They want color copies of ID. I have an HP PSC 1610 all-in-one. I also got it at Office Depot and I paid $75 with a $20 off card. I have had it for a while and was already using it to copy drivers license. No computer needed just plug in. Thanks for the tip on the plug converter.

Color copies of ID's
Check your state statutes about color copies of ID's. It is illegal to make a color reproduction of a NC drivers license. It is also illegal in several other states.

Re: How do you print docs. Have a mobile internet conn?
This printer does not hook up to the computer. You are making copies of ID, etc. I do have another printer that does hookup to my laptop and I have a power inverter to run it in the car

I use a power inverter to plug it in, and it's wireless, so I don't have to physically hook it up to the laptop. I've got a Cingular broadband mobile connection for the laptop. So far it works everywhere I've gone.
