Recycling Laser Toner Cartridges
Just wodering if anyone out there has found a place to recycle laser toner cartridges? My church youth group collects inkjet cartridges for a fundraiser, but they can't take the laser ones. I'd rather recycle them than add them to the landfill! Thanks...

Office Depot will take them and give you a $3.00 coupon towards your next purchase. I keep old cartridges in my car and swing by the OD when near and upon my return, I purchase a reem of 8x10 and get a free reem with the coupon.
Free paper=good deal!

Staples used to do that too...now they only take certain brands, Brother not being one of them. Too bad the closet Office Depot is 120 miles away!

they do this as it is big biz for them to sell the refilled ones... they make a TON of $$$. some refill and resale, others sell to an "ink mill" ... there was an interesting article in my local biz section a few months back....

First, I would check to see if there are any businesses that refill toner cartridges in your area. I have mine refilled in a city nearby. The new cartridges cost $140 at Sams Club. I pay $70 for the refilled cartridges, saving over $900 per year! (Each cartridge prints over 5,000 pages. This company sells all brands.
I don't have the patience to refill them myself. That is the other option.

I send mine to a fellow notary who does use refills
I've been way too chicken to refill mine, especially since I'm an absolute klutz, and if I messed one up and messed up my printer, I'd be out of business until I could buy a new printer. So I bite the bullet and buy new toner cartridges for my HP1300. What I did was post on one of the boards a year ago that I had several empty cartridges and did anyone who refilled their own want them (for free, of course). One gentleman that I sent a cartridge to sent me a check to reimburse me for the postage along with a nice letter of thanks. Since then, I've been sending him my empties, and he reimburses my postage. He's in a busier area and does more closings than me, so he goes through toner faster than I do. As I take the old cartridge out, I place it in the same packaging the new one came in. After I have 2 or 3 boxed empties, I tape them securely together, add mailing labels, and stop by the post office. If you're not refilling yours, may I suggest you post here and see if anyone wants your old ones to refill and would reimburse your postage for sending them.

That's certainly one way to handle it. However, Office Max as well as Office Depot will give a $3.00 credit for the old ones. Laser as well as Inkjet carts. And if you buy your toner from a reseller, such as http://www.ink-refills-ink.com/ or http://inkjetsuperstore.com you wouldn't be spending so much.

I buy all of my cartridges on E-Bay. I've have never paid more than $100.00 for my Q5949X cartridge. I have a HP 1320TN Laser printer.

Sell empties on eBay. Note that they are empty have never been refilled. Somebody that does refill will buy them.
