Steve Scraggs collection query

Hello, I'm having trouble collecting from Steve Scraggs as well...he owns a business called Indpendent Couriers of Orange County and he owes me over $2,000 since 10/06! He is trying to say he doesn't owe me this money, however, I have kept a log of all the signings I have completed for him from June 06 to present. I saw on the notary talk that another notary was having trouble collecting from him...please contact me; I have 3 different phone numbers for him & his mailing address as well. My next move is to contact all the escrow companies he works & let them know I'm having trouble collecting from him.

DON'T GET BURNED by Steve Scraggs!! DON'T GET BURNED BY INDEPENDENT COURIERS!!

$2000 in 2.5 months?

I'm afraid closing time for him would have come somewhere in the $500 range one month out.
If he has burned you for $2000.00 and refuses to pay,it maybe time to call the police on a theft charge. Not a lawyer, never have been, but I like to watch them on TV.

I think it's a little more complicated than that - but I think I may have to take him to court.

I'm the other one on the forum that he burned. Never got paid. I pursued it for a while, but couldn't get a reliable phone or address for him. But because it was "only" $100, I've let it slide because I had some bigger personal stuff going on. He's the only jerk who ever stiffed me. He should be in jail. I did call the title company thru which he got the gig and they never even acknowledged me. ARGH!

You're in CA. He's in CA. Take him to Small Claims Court. It's easy do do within one State. Get your proof together, file a claim, have him served, go to court. If he doesn't show you'll win,(most deadbeats won't show, thinking they can buy some time) if he does show, and really owes you the money, you'll win.

Apparently, I'm not the only one he has stiffed. His WIFE told me of a girl that used to work for him took him to court because he owed her $1,500. I'm not sure if she won or not - but if his own wife is telling me this - that should be a clue of what a JERK he is!

Don't let him take advantage of you like he did me.

Steve Scraggs was my first lesson on why you should never go out on a last minute phone call later in the evening without a confirmation email or fax. Fortunately, I was only out 100 bucks. I did not want to go to small claims court without a loaded gun. But I understand that no one can ever find him to serve him. Good Luck
