Un-freakin-believable ...

I just got a call from the NNA. I am not a member, but I USED to be a member, AND used to be an NSA member, AND a Certified one at that. Remember that part ....

They just wanted to let me know they're putting on a seminar in my area to teach me how to be a Loan Signing Agent. Was I interested in learning how to do that?

I have the flu - didn't have the energy to play with strangers over the phone.

Hope you feel better soon.

The NNA must be wanting you to pay for their flippin float!

OH MY GOSH!!! So this means the newbies will be saturating your area. Frown Did you tell 'em you're a member of the Michigan Network?

Re: Maybe you should have offered...

to teach the classes for them. On your terms of course. Maybe then there would be a chance to get some educated newbies out there. But of course they will plod along, churning out more and more uneducated, unprepared "signing agents" to further degrade this industry.
Hope you feel better Renee. Have you tried my all time favorite home remedy - hot tea with honey and a shot of brandy? Don't know if it will cure the flu, but it makes me feel better.

Re: Maybe you should have offered...

chamomile tea w/ honey, lemon, shot o'something ...

The irony is that they certified me - and NOW they want to teach me how to do this? Now, why in the world would someone THEY certified need to be taught ....isn't that a little backwards? Do they not consider their own certification to have any value?

It would be funny, if it weren't so pathetic (or I wasn't so sick!) Of course, this is all purely my own opinion, influenced as it may be by what's either a virus, or someone's herding sheep inside my mouth, and I got hit by a truck last night and I just don't remember.

LOL Renee....I agree w/John - you could make some serious money teaching! Other than that nasty little side affect, more and more newbies in your area.

In fact....now that I let the ole brain roll with this...you are by far the most competent of all NSA's here to teach. You should become a consultant, and make a bundle.

I can see it now....title companies will hire you to train their staff, you could do 'coaching' to independents...yep - all at a very large hourly rate. You could charge the NNA double your regular rate.

You should think about it!!

I once was told I looked like a movie star ...

no fake, someone told me I looked "just like Michael J. Fox." I tried to swallow the coffee I'd just drank, honest, I did, I tried hard to swallow first before gasping ...

At least when YOU travel to THEM - you keep control of the time factor. Think about it - you really want a bunch of mean relatives living in your house for as long as THEY want?!

okie dokie - time for Nap #4 ...

The NNA must really be working the phones

The week before Christmas as I was wrapping out-of-state presents to take to the FedX station, I got a phone call from a very nice, cordial [honestly ! ! !] representative from the NNA. It seems they were calling to talk about the nasty-gram I sent to the NNA. My email voiced my dissatisfaction and opinion on use of my membership monies for the float, my concerns with renewing my NNA membership, and issues surrounding the GLBA fiasco. He talked, I listened; I talked and he listened. He talked some more, I talked some more. And I freely spoke my mind. After 30 minutes, I basicallly said that we will probably have to agree to disagree on the issues and then said I needed to finish my Christmas wrapping.

I was surprised to get the phone call in the first place, but even more surprised that they were trying to do some damage control on the issue of background checks.

Their only redemption in my eyes is to admit the error of their ways, promise never to do it again and mean it. Then really work at becoming the organization they were intended to be.

is for them to get totally out of the notary signing business.

Oh, but they are...a bit

some of their new offerings (per the literature about their next convention) include making more money doing INSPECTIONS!! Now, that really takes a NOTARY to do that line of work...Can't wait to see what's next...abstracting, court reporting, hmmm.
