Read thread 33325. There are some great tips there.

Diana, I have two sets of biz cards. The card I use the most is the one that promotes the legal name of my business. That's the name I want people to type when they search the internet. It's also how I'm listed in directories. I figure there are plenty of Michelle's and even more folks with my last name in Alabama. But <wink> there is only one Huntsville Mobile Notary in Alabama. I guess if I don't hurry up and brand the name it may not be true in the future. (smile). Hope this helps.

Hit the orange search button and look for the box where you can put in the message number. Put in 33325.

Wow! I just read that message at 33325. That was pretty incredible. Great info for someone getting started. Brenda, where are you located in Texas?

my Business card (not the one sold by the NNA)...is as follows

First line...centered with "The Signing Doc" in Old Manuscript Type with a clipart quill pen and ink well...underneath is "Doc" Stuart M Posner, CNSA "I Make House Calls"

PO Box (etc) Las Vegas (etc)
Phone: 702 (etc) www.thesigningdoc.com
Fax: 702 etc [e-mail address]

I have trademarked the name "The Signing Doc" and the slogan "I Make Housecalls". My "shtick" as some people say...of the lab coat...also advertises me. If you go to my website (not fishing for you to go...but feel free)...I try to make use of that "doctor of notorology" stuff. I feel that business card should reflect YOU. Mine were made by Office Depot on a white linen paper stock with blue ink. While some people like the Vista Prints ones, I wasn't too happy with them. IMHO, they seem like something you can make on your home computer and, again IMHO they convey that message. However, if you spend a little more to get something which looks nice, (maybe with a picture)...that says a lot about you. In many cultures (the Japanese come to mind)...a business card is taken VERY seriously. When you exchange cards with a Japanese business man, DON'T just put it away for later. Look at it, show respect and honour to the giver by your visual and verbal reaction to the card. So, while I may have gone on, and on, and on, and on (a prerogative of being old!)...DO think about what you want to put on there...try to think of something unique that sets YOU apart from me, or BrendaTx, or Titlegal or the others. Hope that helps. "Doc"

I have 2 cards. The only I give to the Borrowers or Signers is a basic Notary Public with my logo, contact information and web address.
My marketing one is directed towards clients with the same contact info, types of signingsetc and on the back, the counties I cover.

Addendum: Exchanging business cards ...

... with people from the Orient:
Doc brings up an excellent point! When receiving an Oriental's card, use two hands to accept it (fist finger and thumb of each is fine). That shows that you are respecting a valuable gift that you have been given. Reading the card, and possibly making a positive remark about some feature of it, immediately rather than pocketing it shows that you value the card.

It's funny; giving such respect to fellow American's business cards has helped establish positive relationships, too....

Poltically Correct

Side note - It's insulting to refer to an Asian as Oriental. Oriental is a term that refers to things not to people.

Diana, Re: What To Put On Business Cards

Because I like variety, I have several types of cards
(Note: I abhor plain white or drab looking cards.).

On the back of each card, I list important telephone numbers,
such as the County Recorder's Office (Marriage/Birth Records),
Property Tax Assessor's Office etc. . .

My cards are purchased at Overnightprints.com.
In addition to their high quality products, they also offer
excellent customer service.

I love a cream colored or white business card with brown print. I know. That's pretty drab. I am old school in too many ways.

Pamela, you are giving away marketing secrets! If you want to keep your info in front of people put something useful with it and you'll be there all the time.

"I love a cream colored or white business card with brown print. . . "

With a matching cream colored business suit (jacket and skirt; floral
blouse), brown pumps and matching handbag looks good (smile).

Add a Nolan Miller or Joan Rivers pin and you're good to go!

Re: Brenda, Re: Diana, Re: What To Put On Business Cards

All that sounds sooooo good, but unfortunately, my sister got all the cocoa browns shade matching. I am a red, black, blue and pink. Well, I can pull of cream or brown if I have a Coppertone tan, but otherwise, I look sick. But I dooooo love brown, gold and cream.

Who's off topic? What topic?

Smile
