Wow-turned down two today

One was for a 1st and 2nd from a Title Company for $150. They said they had a notary who was willing to do it for that, obviously they were trying to get it even cheaper. When I gave her my fee, she then said that she thought the borrowers would rather go with the other notary. HAHAHAHAHA! That was comedy. As if they aren't skimming off the top of the fee they charge the borrowers. Who gets the fee thats listed on the HUD? She also called a notary in my network and told her the same exact thing. The second was for a first and they offered $75 for edocs. I said no I could do that for xxx and she said well it pays $75, I said I cannot accept that fee. It was as though she expected me to just say ok, if you say so. LOL! Just wanted to share.

So, what do you charge for a 1st and 2nd? BTW I WOULD do, and have done a 1st and 2nd for $150. Depending on the company, and the distance I must travel. I also think that $75 for edocs is a good price. (I get $25 for edocs, maybe $40 for a 1st and 2nd, but never $75) That said, there are a lot of notaries here in my area (Denver) of CO.

It depends really. I wasn't going to take this particular job for $150. She didn't even counter. She was trying to find cheaper than $150. I do take them for that if it's close but it wasn't. Maybe you misunderstood. I meant the second one I turned down was $75.00 total for the assignment. There were two different phone calls from different companies. The first one offered $150 for a first and second with edocs. The second company offered $75 with edocs for a first only.

I understand now... maybe? You weren't going to take the job for $150 (more or less) because you don't like the people? You've worked for them before and they suck? It was to far?
If I have worked for a title company before, and they are decent, not to much "hand holding" and they pay. I WANT to work for them again! I give them EVERY concideration (I drop my price) (I'll even drive across town in rush hour) I WANT their business!
I did misunderstand on the "second one." I would not do a "standard refi edocs" for $75. If I could walk to it. I charge $25 for 'standard' edocs (to download and print.... CHEAPER than Kinkos!) just to get the business, more for a 1st and 2nd. I figure I don't quite break even. Then $100 for standard refi (close) So... $125 to start, up from there. Sorry I misunderstood.

Note* I really don't know why NSA's are "shy" about what they charge? If someone wants to hire me I'm not "shy" about telling them what I charge!

They were shopping, looking for someone to beat the $150 price. And it was too far for $150. I agree with you, I will do a lot for a title co who treats me right but I didn't like the vibe from this company and like I said, I think they were shopping. My pricing is not that much different than yours. I think some are cautious because they don't want their competition undercutting them

I figure I'm so good I don't have any competition! (actually that's not quite true, in fact if I'm busy, I recommend a couple other notaries that I believe to be competent in my area to the requesting (title) company) I do this with no "agreement". I do this because I want to "help" the companies that want to do business with me. I think the 'closers/processors' appreciate me trying to help, and call me next time. Besides, if a notary living across the street from me wants to charge $20. I don't care. I've done this long enough to know what I NEED to get to stay in business.

LOL

We have a network here and that's what we're doing. It's working out well. True enough.
