anybody getting reamed
with telemarketing calls and spam mail lately, or is it just me? It seems that every tom dick and harry is calling me. Yes, I'm on the do not call list. If you have a website out there on Yahoo or google that isn't listed on the first page be prepared to receive a call from some companies that are promising front page exposure on every search engine for $99. down and 99. every month thereafter. I could NOT get this guy to understand that I know the used car salesman tricks and heard it all. He was almost laughing at my decision! I felt like telling him to go 'notarize' himself. Geeze. Now, I 'm picking up the phone and as soon as I hear it..."NOT interested"....click.

Yep, TDH & Sue did call yesterday. First it was top search engines placement, free credit card machines, qualified for $200K business fund, then more free credit card machines. I did better than you no wasting my breath with them by just pressing that red button on the cell phone.

Once you know it is a telemarketer, start asking them if they are the freaky goat pervert who sent you the sick pornography. Then ask them if they are stupid. Then, "are you a STUPID PERVERT??".
Then, tell them that the police have a sophisticated call tracer on your phone and that they are on their way to arrest the freaky goat porn perv.
It may not do any good for stopping the calls, but you'll feel a lot better when you hear them stutter and/or hanging up.

Re: anybody getting reamed...I meant to say we get so many
telemarketing calls these days, it's kind of like reverse prank calling.
Think up annoying crap to say to them and get a belly laugh. No need in letting them get to you.
Look up the police station's phone number and say, "Oh, the person you need to talk to is at this extension. Tell them I referred you. It's very important to leave your name, address and a number."
Tell them the person they want to speak to is dead. It was suicide due to telemarketer harrassment.
Start talking in gibberish.
Heck, even ask them if they have Prince Albert in a can.

Has anybody actually REPORTED them?
After all, we're on the Do Not Call List!

Complain to the DO NOT CALL Registry
https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx
Fill out the form. Fill it out each and every time you get a call. Especially if it's from a caller you've already complained about. (Please note that the federal Do Not Call list has some exemptions.)

OK guys & gals... have some pity for the poor telemarketer..
It's a job. Doesn't pay well. They don't like it any more than you do. Probably even less. In my young & dumb days, I did do this... and there is nothing worse than going thru your whole script and then having them hang up on you. Do them & yourself a favor. Hang up right away & keep 'em working or they will fall for the NNA's line & become your competition. And that's the truth...ppphhhllllbbbbt....or however you spell 'giving the raspberry'.

Re: I am in agreement
I don't like them either, but I always try to remember that this is just a person who is trying to make an honest living and so I try to be polite and just say no thanks and end the call. I respect them much more then the idiot who has the health and opportunity to work and they choose to sponge off of any government entity they can, sit back and collect money for doing nothing. Believe me, I know the type as there is a whole nest of them across the street from me. They fake injuries, illness, etc and then take their government money and buy drugs! Also, I remember hearing that the do not call list does not pertain to business to business telemarketing but only for business to residence. Anyone know for sure?

My "trick" works wonders....
I have several, really. The first one I used with great success when my daughter was a little tiny thing... about 2 or 3. I would hand her the phone (which she was constantly wanting anyway) and give her the okeedokee to scream at the top of her shrill-little lungs (which she was constantly wanting to do anyway). It was a fun bonding game she and I played, quite effectively I might add, for several years.
Nowadays, since she is older and doesn't have that shrill voice, I just mess with them myself. I say "Harvey, is that you? Oh, MAN... you had me going! What? This isn't Harvey? OH YES IT IS! Now, STOP it Harvey or I am gonna call your mama! How is your mama anyway?" I never let 'em get a word in edgewise Works every time. They tire of my B.S. and hang up. Yeah... I'm a cheap date and get my thrills easily.
Oh... and one more little trick: Get VoIP phone service. For some reason, the VoIP isn't compatible with those auto-dialers that phish for phone numbers. If you have a land-line and don't want VoIP, go to RadioShak and purchase the Tele-zapper (about $30). I used to give them as Real Estate closing gifts and my clients LOVED them! Said they worked like a charm.

hint to stop them
Hang up immediately. Do not even say sorry or no thank you. One of my degrees is marketing and we even had to study this field...
the call is on a timer... if you talk or keep the line going your # is marked as a call back... the longer you stay on the line the more calls you get as they sell/share info to each other....
the feeling is any talk even neg is an opening to sell to you.....

Found "Jesus"
One of the standup comic let's the telemarketer go and then says...well that sounds great to the telemarketer and then says..."Can I ask you a questions? Have you found Jesus"....
Usually, the telemarketer just hangs up. Possible they put you on their do not call list.
