documents arrive late
Good evening everybody I need to vent!! Yesterday I got a call for a signing tonight @ 8:00. Not the best part of town, but I agreed. It's 7:52 pm, and I still don't have the docs, and the signing agent is adamant that I still wait for the documents to get to the signing tonight. I'm patiently waiting.

Your business or theirs?
I assume you are not an employee, so unless this is one of your best customers and even if it is set a cutoff and live your life.

I know that it's par for the course, but I'm just tired tonight. Still don't have the docs.

Understand that the odds are just about even that an hour from now, THEY will cancel anyway. You will not be paid a dime for sitting at your computer waiting. They probably won't even say Thank You.

Just told them it was too late. Reschedule for tomorrow and send me docs on time. Of course, they are not too happy, told me the lender was going to email docs now.

8:30 on a Tuesday night and they are going to email them.
Yeah right. Enjoy the rest of your evening and if they have them tomorrow, good for everybody. If they don't they wasted your evening and you need to remember them the next time.

It's been a long evening....... The SS has the audacity to call me and tell me that if I get an overnighted package tomorrow, disregard it. Guess I won't hear from them again. Their loss!!!!

If you do get the package make sure and fedex/ups it back to them with the enclosed envelope, you really don't want to be responsible for it.

Take "Now" and add at least an hour to that... the title company needs to prepare the HUD-1, generate their internal compliance documents, then the mortgage broker needs to get to the HUD-1 to approve it, and generate his or her own compliance documents, assume there are changes, then they have to scan the complete document package to email (unless the title co is foolish enough and not GLBA-compliant to share their lender log-ons with you)....
You were right to bail when you did, IMHO.

Just tell them to call you when the docs are emailed.
Then, if it is too late, tell them it is too late. For example, if the come at 10pm, say too late. If they come at 8:05pm perhaps you do it. Or at 8:05pm you could say too late.
I waited once. Documents never came and then the next day they rebooked with another cheaper notary.
It is your business.
