4th of July

Alright I figured I'd start this thread off because it's needed Smile

What are everybodies plans for the 4th of July?

I of course will be working for a few hours then spend the day with the family and some friends.. BBQ, have some beers and take out atv's out for some riding in the woods near my house (and yes I will ride before I drink and with my helmet). Can't be to crazy because I do have class the next morning at 8am Frown

I'll be working if there are any requests for 7/4.
Historically speaking, IME it has been a closed day, so I expect to spend it with family, bbq'ing, fireworks and all the regular stuff.

Don't loose site of what this day means

It is not just a day to have parties, BBQ and have fun. Though it is all a part of the celebration, remember the underlying purpose of having a July 4th celebration. An anniversary of OUR independence and freedom. Don't forget those who made it possible and are continuing to make our freedom ring.

Okay, so I lost it already. :)

Too much work and not enough play today. Still printing docs for my 11 o'clock (ET) signing.

Heck and I thought I was the one to mistype on here haha I blame the use of my new laptop though, still getting used to it.

I agree on the celebrating of our freedom and independence. One thing, do you see it right for people to have to work on 4th of July? Your not really free if you have to come into work because some big corporate VP says so. Sure know he won't be in! I say this for the average worker, the 40 hour a week wage worker! I think it's not fair. Just ticks me off to see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorier because they don't treat the workers right.

I say a video in class this morning about how the workforce is just suffering due to the rich cocky CEO's and crap. It's people like that who are ruing our country. What's it worth to celebrate really?

Re: Oops, Sylvia beat me to it. - Am I the only once who

wants to say, "Good Grief!!!!"

Freedom being compared with whether or not you work on a holiday???

FWIW, NO, you're NOT the only one!!

I can't argue that exec pay has gotten out of balance and there are inequities in our current economy, but let's not confuse that with what it really means to be free in this country! Some of those CEOs started out in the mailroom of the companies they run. If we don't like what we're doing or how much we're getting paid, we all have the freedom to make a different choice...
