Advice please

I recieved a call Saturday night/Sunday morning from someone at 2am. They "said" they were with a Bailbondsmen and needed me to come for a notarization. Well the number was blocked and they seemed very vague. Couldn't tell me what they needed notarized or where they were at. I really think they were playing tricks on me. They keep calling and calling. I finally turned my ringer off.
Does anyone know how to get around call blocking? Or how to block a phone number that is hiding?

I forgot to mention that someone that does this type of thing is really no more than a big "Chicken"!

My advice is to set up your phone to refuse all blocked numbers. I have "Privacy Manager" and it has cut down tremendously on telemarketers, etc. If someone doesn't want to unblock their number then it's sayonara to them!

Well I have been receiving a ton of crank calls, so I contacted the police and they said to contact the phone company. When talking to them about this they said they will be putting a trace on my line. I think this will un-veil who the culprit is and then the phone company can prosecute them for this offence.

I don't think I will have anymore trouble the trace is effective now.

Talk to Misty, Bev... same thing happened to her on Sat.

She and I spoke about it, and we think we know who it is playing little 2 a.m. phone games. Seriously... call her. You two should make a joint complaint to Embarq/Sprint regarding these identical phone calls.

If you have Caller ID service, you should be able to

block anonymous calls by dialing *77 - may be different for your phone company, so check with them to make sure.

Here's a pretty good resource for this kind of stuff:
