Back Dating

I just had a guy call me saying he had clients that are on vacation in my area and he wanted me to do the signing however he needed the docs dated for July 25th he would pay me what ever I wanted to do this. I told him there isn't enough money to get me to back date anything for anyone NO I would not do it then he asked me if I knew anyone that would and again I said NO and told him to forget my number that no mater what I would not do any closings for him if this is the way he does business. After hanging up it dawned on my that I didn't even get the name of the company, knowing what he was asking was wrong maybe that is why he didn't offer it to me. Has anyone else had calls like this? I am wondering if it was some kind of set up or test I can't believe that someone would really ask that.

I got a call several months ago from a man asking me to notarize some loan documents for his wife - it was a Saturday - told him sure I could meet with them - he then told me the documents were supposed to be signed Friday but had just been delivered and he needed them dated for Friday - told him I can't - it's illegal - and he says "I know, my wife is a notary too, but I thought, being a fellow notary and all..."...WHAT???...

Needless to say I didn't meet with them but, at the time, I also wondered if I'd been set up.

I had something very similar to your situation, but was asked by another Arizona Notary (in the Phoenix area) to back date the docs. Can you believe that!!

The one time someone has asked me to back date a loan I of course said no. The man on the phone who claimed to be the loan officer became very angry and said you know it is done all the time! To which I replied, then you should have absolutely no trouble finding someone and hung up.

I say this only because I now recall that he did not give me any personal information about himself. So my question, who/what entity would call and try to trick a notary like that?
