Back up your files people !
Hi everyone. I would like to remind all of you to back up youir files. Windows XP died a horrible death on me and I lost EVERYTHING. While I can redo business letters , and I have hard copies of all my confirmations, I lost most of my family photos.. and other things that were very important . so please , take a few minutes and back up your files. Thank you.

Re: Back up your files people! There are some excellent
systems for backing up. You could use an external hard disk. NDWA recommends the RAID 1 system and I investigated the RAID 7+1 system. I finally settled on the Digital Robotics DROBO ( www.digitalrobotics.com ) becasue of the ease of installation. I don't have the time to mess around with complex systems and the DROBO uses 4 disk drives that are redundant with each other. You can hot swap the disks and any that get disabled the system runs along with what is left. I've been quite happy with it and it takes up very little real estate on my desktop. Sorry to hear of your misfortune I recently went throught the same before I set up a secure system.

I picked up an e-book external hard drive at best buy and drop everything on it. I can disconnect it so no one hacks into it and take it with me with my laptop.

Impossible
"Windows XP died a horrible death on me and I lost EVERYTHING."
A hdd crashed is a different story. There shouldn't be any data lost if it was windows (OS) that failed unless, you formatted-reinstalled windows and wiped out everything. As Charles mentioned, using a Raid (2+ hdd running parallel) structure will prevent data lost due to hard drive failure.

I thought I'd be able to use system restore but NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would have been easy... Anyway Thank you all for those fabulous suggestions .All of which I am going to investigate today. Can anyone tell me roughly how much they will cost to install? I'm going to say money is NOT an object here. And which is the easiest to use? I'm not what I call an expert , but that is the third time my os died. I do have some skills...so I'm not totally in the dark II was able to recover most of my photos between friends and yahoo photos.
I'll have to scan in certain documents and re save. what a PITA
Thanks again to all of you.

Back up your files people!
My husband went to a site Fri AM and downloaded at least 4 viruses, lost everything. FWIW: LIMEWIRE>COM is a known virus site! Beware!
