ChristiSoCal, as you point out in message 199880...

perhaps we should all join the NNA and "collectively argue our interests are not being served!" (as we were led to believe). That would be an excellent strategy if you had any leverage but the NNA does not listen to anyone, nor does it have to. However if the same energy was put into starting a national association with free elections and a board of directors responsible back to the contituency then there would be an organization to rival the NNA and put them in their place. However after preaching this for the last two years I am not sure that could ever happen with notaries. Aside from the established notary networks I have not seen the ability or desire by notaries to organize, not even for their own good. Even as we speak there are organizations being set up to take advantage of the notary using viariations on the NNA model. I had had discussions in private with organizers but its the same old model: set up a business, call it an organization is really looking out for their best interests. Sounds like a protection racket, hmmmmm...?

I really can't take credit for those words, I was taking part of what Harry had said in the previous message and commenting on that. I imagine you are right though, the NNA would not listen, to bad there isn't a way of over-throwing them (Off with their heads!!!)
