Companies that "short" your check!

I hate companies that do that. I've had it happen with FASS in the past, and it takes forever for them to get it together. Got a check today where they shorted me $50. I email the company with the confirmation that they sent me. I'm told they'll look into it, but they don't remember the fee they agreed to. I point out to them that it is plainly stated in the confirmation that I had attached to the email!! And this is supposed to be a "good company" to work for.

so annoying and than you have to chase your $$$..

someone posted that she does not think confirm emails are necessary and I so strongly disagree as you have nothing for any proof.

I HAD one person who continually shorted and never sent out confirms as he said his word was gold.... fools gold ... as I quit taking anything from him when 2 were short and he argued that was the agreement.

It is exactly this kind of post that makes me refuse FASS unless I can get a title person from FAT to email me a confirmation that they are willing to pay the $xxx.xx I request.

FASS has all kinds of excuses on why they cannot send you a confirmation with the correct info on it. The last time it was, "Oh we can send you two confirmations. One for X and one for Z."

ME: No thank you. Please have FAT call me about this assignment. I need them to approve it in writing first.

I will NOT accept work for them without FAT being involved.

We generally make it very clear to a client exactly what information needs to appear in a confirmation, and explain that we will not print their edocs until we receive it. So far....no problems

With FASS they say that they cannot print a confirmation for over a certain amount and will need to issue two of them if the amount is more than that. That's all well and good but I want one from FAT which says the whole amount. Just my personal way of dealing with them so that I don't have a shorted check.

I have no problem getting a confirmation with my $xxx.xx fee on it from FASS. They won't email it, I have to go into their system and print it, but if my fee is $150 and my confirmation says $150, I'll get a check for $75 about 1/2 the time. So I'm now refusing a lot more than I say yes to as I'm sick of the $ chase.

A good CO is simply a sign of a 'good business'

The silly excuses that these co's come up with for why they can't send a proper Confirmation Order flys in the face of 'good business practice'. It isn't hard to state specifics and when, after all these years, they haven't figured out how to do it reasonably---well, there's a reason.
And that reason has to be that they are not honorable companies and you always have to worry about what game they're playing now. I've worked in a lot of different businesses and can't think of a single one who would dream of engaging in the 'cute tricks' prevalent in this field.
